Trail Drive-In Theatre,Athens, Texas
Thanks to one of my webpage vistors for this photo and the information.
The above photo was taken in the spring of 1998 in Athens, Tx.
One night in late September 1985 was the last operating weekend for this Drive-in.
The Trail ran Carbon Arc on its last night with a picture as bright
as one could ask for at any walk in theatre. "Silverado" was the first feature that night.
It seemed fitting considering that the Drive-in was made famous by Westerns.
The owner never seemed to grasp why people did not attend his Drive-In.
He said the previous weekend had been even worse: a doublebill of NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET and
HELLHOLE had yielded very poor results. I guess this fare never did sit well those staunch
Southern Baptists that comprise the majority of this small East Texas town.
