Professional Background
Dr. Noemi Balinth is a Clinical Psychologist in private practice in La Jolla, California. She has been providing psychological services for over 20 years. She earned her bachelor's degree from New York University and her doctorate in Clinical Psychology from St. John's University in New York. She is licensed as a Pychologist, certified as a School Psychologist, is listed in the National Register for Health Service Providers in Psychology and holds a Diplomate from the the American Board of Forensic Examiners in Clinical Psychology. Dr. Balinth has a deep and caring understanding of the unique challenges that indivduals face. Her clincial experience extends to a variety of settings including: private practice, hospitals, outpatient clinics, schools, nursing and rehabilitation homes.

She has also been featured on radio and has been an invited lecturer at hospitals, universities, professional conferences and varied sites in the community. Subjects have includied: life transitions, coping with stress, the psychology of adolescents, family mental health, singles, couples, marriage, divorce, aging, self esteem, empowerment, plastic surgery, assisted suicide, responses to trauma, the practice of psychology under managed care and generally, the psychological aspects of current events. Dr. Balinth was also a regular contributor to a Newsgram on managed care issues and an assistant editor for the Journal of Gambling Behavior.

Professional Activities
Dr. Balinth is an esteemed member of many professional organizations including the American Psychological Association(APA),including the APA's divisions of Clinical Psychology, Psychotherapy, International Psychology, Family Psychology and Media Psychology. She currently chairs the APA's Division of State and Provincial Affairs Covnention Program for the year 2002. Other associations she has been a member of include the International Society for Traumatic Stress Studies and the Society for the Exploration of Psychotherapy Integration. Active in associational leadership, Dr. Balinth was President of the New York State Psychological Association (NYSPA) in 2000 and Editor of their Website. She continues to serve on their Council. As part of her advocacy efforts on behalf of the profession and in the public interest, she has lobbied both in Washington and in the state Capital to further our mental health agenda. She has also been actively involved in responding to natural and man-made disasters both in NYC and around the nation through the auspices of the APA's Disaster Resonse Network and the American Red Cross.
