Geneology of Daniel Shawn Fullagar

Geneology of Daniel Shawn Fullagar

Possible Origins

The name FULLAGAR appears to be an Anglo-Saxon name. The Anlo-Saxons did not use classical or biblical names but tried to give everyone his own, unique name, composed of two elements. There can be several meanings given given to the two parts of the name FULLAGAR. "Fulla" means "plenty" and "gar" means "spear" whereas "gara" means a "wedgeshaped piece of land". The original FULLAGARs were either hunters, warriors or individuals who worked or owned "plenty" of land such as farmers or land owners.

In the Borough of Maidstone, in the County of Kent, in the Country of England there is a village known as Headcorn. The village was given its name by Anglo-Saxons and may have existed prior to their arrival in the 5th or 6th century. The name "Head" derives from Old English meaning Huda, while "corn" was the name for a fallen tree. Thus, the name Headcorn translates in Old English as "Huda's fallen trees" which literally meant a clearing in the great forest. During those early times livestock was driven into this clearing, known as Headcorn, to feed on acorns collected from the great Wealden forest. Headcorn is about 40 miles southwest of Maidstone, and Maidstone is abouot 40 miles southwest of London. The village of Headcorn has the earliest recorded FULLAGAR discovered thus far.
