Clyde Johnston Patton
1915 - 1982
Clyde Johnston Patton was the son of Harry Clyde and Mary Jane Patton was born January 28, 1915 in Banksville Pa. Died on June 11, 1982 in Bellevue, Pa.  He married Mary Eleanor Kikly the daughter of Charles Nelson and Mary Agnes Kikly.  They had the following children:

Deborah Ann Patton

Clyde grew up on the family farm one of seven children, he helped around the farm as much as a small child could he was about 12 years old when they moved from the farm to Bellevue.  He never talked much about his childhood.  All of his brothers and sister where very close as they raised their families.

Clyde attended Bellevue High School where in graduated in 1935, he played on the Bellevue High football team, he met an dated Mary Eleanor in high school.  After Eleanor graduated they eloped to Maryland and got married, upon returning home they got married in the Catholic Church.  They moved into an apartment on Mead Ave. and Eleanor’s younger sister Lorraine moved in with them until she went to get married in Texas.  They then purchased the house that they both lived in until their deaths, their youngest daughter still lives in that house.

Clyde had worked  for Kauffmens department store where he sold carpets, and they waited until he was making $15.00 a week before they got married..  After that He worked for a company called Hamilton a burial vault manufacturing company on Banksville Rd. He was a foreman there for quite a while, in the early 1970’s they were planning on making a trip over to Hawaii to visit their son Donald and he told Eleanor that the big boss wanted to take him to lunch an he thought they were going to promote him. Instead they crushed him by telling him they didn't know how much longer they were going to be able to stay in business and they had to lay him off. He never worked after that and he went on disability for his emphysema They never did shut down and in fact they may still be in business today. We never forget how he came home and had to tell all of us and they had to canceled their trip to visit Hawaii which had been his dream for years.

Clyde wasn’t a carpenter by trade but one of the things he was most proud of was when he remodeled the kitchen all by himself, making all of the cabinets and counter tops from scratch, but his children do remember a lot of robust language coming from the kitchen while he was working.

Clyde passed away on June 11, 1982, his beloved wife Eleanor never really got over his death but lived until her death in May of 2001.

Side Notes of Donald:  One of the biggest regrets that I have in moving away from home and not returning for over 30 years was that I never had the opportunity to spend time with dad as an adult & friend. Also the last time I visited my Mom we where talking in her room and she told me that she wanted to go and see dad, I figured she  tried of living without him an she would be gone soon.
