My Statement of Faith
God is the meaning to all that is, and is thus more than all that is.  We live within a shadow, and all truth, beauty, love, and morality to be found here is His breath upon His creation.  Christ is the sign that the infinite can be contained within the finite, and that the radical love of God can cover over and engulf sin, which is the mark of finiteness, the imperfection which defines perfection.  God's grace through Christ, and through Christ alone, heals me.  Faith is the loving hand of God upon us, molding our life and mind, and only through the lens of faith does the universe have order and purpose.  In the absence of God, the universe is just a complex and vast machine set in motion, a machine which makes and does nothing.  In the absence of God, I am just an insignificant cog in this grand machine.  This all being said, it is foolish to say anything about what God is like.

I must envision God, and God presents himself to me, as an intimate friend, the ultimate listener, wise beyond knowing, always approachable and caring.  It is as a friend that I can speak to Him, and He will listen:  God is faithful.  But, I know this is only one face:  He is also the strong cold wind upon the mountaintop that affirms I am alive and that it is good to be alive.  He is the brilliant light which dispells all darkness and fear, too bright to look at, but never painful to see.  He is in each singular thing, but they are not Him.
I experience God each day as He pulls me back from self-centered despair and points me outward:  He is in the amazing event of love given and received, the joy of sharing with all of God's children.  I experience God too in His creation:  the wonderment of shining glaciers, green valleys, sunsets on the water, and the incredibly complex piece of work which is man.  And, once in a great while, or perhaps only once, God touches me to let me know that all is well in the universe and that all separateness is merely illusion.  The more we recognize this, the more we are at peace.  I rest now and forever in the warmth of God's love, all the more comforting in that it is undeserved.

The absurdity of it!  That God should love me.
