Lost love
By tom Hancock
When the great firebird eats the sky
Mother earth is under a blanket of darkness
Until the Great Spirit turns on his night light
And bathes the land in an ocean of silvery blue
All around there is beauty but there is sadness too
Like my brother the wolf, all alone am I
His mournful cry’s echo through the night
My brother the night hawk cry’s where are you?
Through the whispering pines I hear a mourning dove
The poor creature has lost its mate in flight
I lift my crying eyes to the moon above
To your memory I whisper I miss you
Out of my life you have flown
Like a frightened dove from below
Like an arrow from my bow
Where your journey leads I do not know
I love you so I set you free
If you do not return to me
Then you and I were never meant to be
I will love you longer than the rivers shall flow
