Ellensburg Alano Club

Brief History of Ellensburg Alano Club

The Ellensburg Alano Club started when it was realized that Alcoholics Anonymous and its related groups could not survive nor serve the local community without a meeting place. Because close personal fellowship is an essential part of recovery from alcoholism and drug addiction a clubhouse formed, called the Ellensburg Alano Club. The Ellensburg Alano Club was incorporated March 26, 1982 and the clubhouse was a small building located at the agricultural airport. The club was heated by an old drip oil heater that one day exploded and the club was relocated to a downtown Ellensburg location. That location was bought by a restaurant and the club again was forced to relocate in 1988-89 to our present location where we have been for the past 20 years. We were recently informed that Fred Meyers will be building a store at our current location and we will have to relocate sometime soon.

Objectives

The objective of the Ellensburg Alano Club is to provide facilities for the promotion and maintenance of sobriety and close personal fellowship among those who hold sobriety to be of primary importance. The club will provide a meeting place for AA, NA, Alanon and Alateen where they may discuss their alcoholic/addiction problems and interest others in the disease of alcoholism/addiction in the fellowship of AA, NA, Alanon and Alateen. Its members will stand ready to render assistance to the still suffering alcoholics and their relationships with other affected by alcohol. The Ellensburg Alano Club accomplishes this objective through the personal connections of one alcoholic/addict to another carrying the message of AA, NA, Alanon, and Alateen.
