Marcella Corvino
(August 12, 1918 - April 30th, 2004)
On Thursday morning, April 30th, Mrs. Corvino took her journey peacefully to the next world. Wise friend and surrogate mother to many, she will be remembered for her kindness, her generosity, her sense of humor and her unending knowledge about just about everything. For all who were lucky enough to know her, she is deeply missed. However, there is evidence that her huge spirit is checking in from the great dance studio in the sky to lend her love and support! So when in need, just call on her and listen.

On Sunday, June 12, 2005 a 'Celebration of Life' Party in honor of
Marcella Corvino was given in the garden of the Corvino home. It was attended by 175 people who enjoyed a live string trio, catered food, toasts and vocal presentations especially for this great lady, and the chance to remember all the amazing times we had with her.

On January 31, 2004, ERNESTA CORVINO'S DANCE CIRCLE COMPANY sponsored a CELEBRATION in honor of Dr. Alfredo Corvino. To celebrate his recent Honorary Doctorate as well as his 88th birthday, the company danced two new ballets by Ernesta Corvino, had a party of champagne, hors d'ouevres and birthday cake as well as provided everyone the opportunity to share their experiences over the years with this extraordinary man!

Alfredo Corvino is continuing to travel with Tanztheater Wuppertal/Pina Bausch as their ballet master. During the summer of 2004, he toured to Paris, Germany and Japan. In November he conducted company classes at BAM for their New York Season.This coming September he will go with the company to Portugal.
On May 13th, Dr. Corvinowas honored at a banquet hosted by The New Jersey Dance Theater Ensemble, of which he is the founding artistic director.Robert Johnson of The Star-Ledger has written an extensive article about Dr. Corvino and his influence on dance in New Jersey.
On May 20th, he participated in the Commencement Exercises of The Juilliard School at Alice Tully Hall, along with other previous honorees in celebration of the school's 100th Anniversary, where each artist was awarded the Juilliard Centennial Medal.
Dr. Corvino taught an open master class at Studio 5-2 on Saturday, October 23rd. Check back regularly for the next one!

Ernesta Corvino has recently served as guest teacher and choreographer for The Harkness Youth Ballet at the 92nd Street Y.She will be teaching her full schedule of classes at 890 Broadway this summer with the exception of the last two weeks of July, at which time she will be teaching and choreographing for Dance Plattsburgh 2005 in upstate New York. During the last two weeks of July, her classes at 890 Broadway will be taught by Thomas Baird.
In September, she will be teaching and choreographing at the University of Nevada in Las Vegas.
On Sunday, May 29th, Ms. Corvino conducted a seminar for teachers in New York City. Check back regularly for the next one!
