Matty: The Saga of My 1975 AMC Matador
1975 AMC MATADOR
In September of 2000, I made the greatest decision of my short life. I decided to buy the car that I had loved since I first saw it. A 1975 AMC Matador. I bought it off of my friend Kelly for a mere $1000. I got a deal. Since that time I have done much work to my beloved Matty.  More about that later.  Matty is a steel beast, weighing in at an amazing 3800 lbs(1.9 tons!).  She has a NEW 304 V8 2 vlv. engine in her.  She is an ivory white color, which you can see from the provided pictures. She puts other cars to shame.
Since September of 2000, I have done alot of work on Ol' Matty. I replaced the rocker arm on the #7 cylinder, because the old one had completely worn away from a loose nut which led to clattering, which subsequently wore away the rocker arm. I also managed to get the small pump for the winsheild wiper fluid to work, all I spent on that was $0.99 for some winshield wiper fluid, good deal, eh?  I also adjusted the timing some and replaced all of the old wires and the cap and rotor.  New plugs to boot.  But, then the unexpected happened.  The rear seal went.  I was shocked.  I had just gotten that 304 to purr, it was running great, and the rear seal went.  So I made the decision to shell out some cashola for a new 304, because I was going to have to lift the engine out anyways, and I might as well put a new engine in with a warranty for my trouble.  I plan to put dual exhaust on and to paint it.
Hey Guys! Little update for ya!

Matty has been runnin a little rough lately, and the pcv valve is usually the culprit in these situations, so I went and sprung for a new one ($1.99). Put it in, and there was an obvious difference. The timing is a bit off though, she is idle-ing a bit rough, so I'm going to tinker with that sometime soon. It says 5 degrees b.t.d.c. but I am going to set it wherever the hell she runs the best. And I decided what color to paint her, the same color she is right now, white/ivory. Gonna happen very soon. It'll be a great day. She'll need a little bondo work, so I am lookin for some spare parts that arent rusted out, good luck, eh? Well, I hope to keep in touch. AMC-ya later!
