Sarah Ann Edson, the baby of the family, was eight years of age when the family immigrated by covered wagon to Missouri. She was fourteen when the Civil War started and shared the hardships of the frontier pioneers during those tragic years.
Frank enlisted in the Union Army at Eagleville, MO on August 8, 1862 passed his physical a week later at Trenton, MO and  was discharged near Washington D. C. on June 10, 1865.
Sarah and Frank were married 18 Jan 1866 and moved in with her parents. Seven children were born to this union. When Daniel’s health began to fail they took over the farming operation.
Sometime later Frank and Sarah desired to immigrate to Kansas. The old Edson homestead was sold and Rachel Ann moved to the home of  her son, Alonzo Smith Edson.
Frank and Sarah tried to put  roots down in Kansas, but due to crop failures time after time in that arid savage country, returned several times to Harrison County to accumulate a new stake. In 1890 they were living on a farm near Halstead, Kansas.
Frank died in 1910 while Sarah lived till 1936 and saw the birth of her 39 grandchildern and 51 of her 95 great-grandchildren.
Frank and Sarah are burried in the Morris Chapel Cemetery north of Bethany, Missouri.
Their oldest son, Daniel - MO; Rachel - KS, Mary Rosena, William Asbury - Edson Cemetery; Mabel Olive - Logston Cemetery, nr Brooklyn, MO; Dorce Wesley - Woodlawn Cemetery, OK; Oda Ethel - Pleasant Ridge Cemetery, nr Bethany, MO.

    The First Daniel Edson Reunion
The first Daniel Edson Reunion was held at the Lake Contrary Park in St Joseph, Missouri in 1954. It was held to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the Daniel Edson Clan beginning the move from Coles County, Illinois to Jefferson Township, Harrison County; MO  in 1854/55.
Annual reunions were held in St Joseph in 1955, '56 and '57. In 1957 it was voted to have two groups, one in St. Joseph and the other in the Memorial Park in Bethany. The one in St. Joseph has discontinued but we have continued to have a Reunion close to Bethany, Harrison Co., Missouri since 1958.
Come and enjoy meals, displays and fellowship with other members of the Daniel Edson extended family.
