LEAF Updates
In 2003, the California Department of Education awarded Orcutt Union School District a $455,432 grant to bring healthier foods to, remove all "junk food" sales from and increase student physical activity and nutrition at its junior high school campuses.
The Linking Education, Activity and Food (LEAF) Pilot Program affords nine select school districts including OUSD the opportunity to experiment wiht various foods, presentation techniques and training programs to determine what students will acceept, enjoy and benefit from.
Findings from the 21-month program will be shared with districts throughout the state to help them meet impending requirements of Senate Bill 19, a state law that mirrors the program.

This website is designed to provide public access to the LEAF Update, a semi-monthly newsletter sent to students parents, school board members and local media to keep them apprised of program happenings and to provide nutrition and exercise facts, news and further education.

Click on the links below to view LEAF Updates as they become available. For more information, questions or comments, e-mail Kenneth Parker, associate superintendent, instructional services, at kparker@orcutt-schools.net or call him at (805) 938-8940.
