SNOOKIE

Snookie was released to me from a breeder. What a little Doll!

Here is my Yorkie, Roxie and Snookie on the bed the night before tradedy struck

Snookie was to go to the vet in the morning to be spayed and have a routine dental. This was a new clinic that I was going to that was offering me very good discounts for my rescues.

I left Snooks there and went shopping with a friend while she and another rescue were being altered and having their teeth cleaned. While out, I got a call from the vet. He said, “I have bad news, While attempting to pull an abscessed tooth, her jaw broke”. He said, but not to worry, he would get the supplies that he needed and pin the jaw. I said, “Do whatever you need to do for her”.

While getting ready to order something to eat, I got another call from the vet. He said, “I have some more bad news”.
He told me that she has so little jaw bone that the pins would not hold. He then proceeded to suggest removing the bottom jaw!!! I asked if there were any alternatives. He said maybe
Gulf Coast Aniamal Clinic ,A Specialty Clinic, would have more state of the art equipment and might be able to do more than he could. I said, I would be right over to get her. I could not bear the thought of this darling, sweet little dog having no jaw. Of course, I could not eat anything now!!

This was like a nightmare! But I had not seen anything yet!!

At the Vet they brought out Snookie to me!!!

Thank God I had a friend with me!!!!

We rushed over to the orthopedic vet. Dr. Bill Liska was waiting for us. He took Snookie in right away. He came out later and said, “Well, it is not good but there is hope”. He told me that her jaw could not be mended because she just didn’t have enough bone to work with but that he didn’t think her jaw needed to be removed. He did say that the little dog’s teeth were in such horrible shape that she would do better with no teeth. They were so infected. So, poor little Snookie has no teeth now. The bill was going to be around $1,000. I started to cry. I had this little dog 4 days and now, such a huge bill. The surgeon took pity and reduced the fee to $600 with a 10% discount.

Thank God for plastic!

It has been just about a month since this tragic day. Snookie is doing well. She is
eating soft food and learning how to be spoiled rotten. My Husband is seeing to that!

Her hair is growing back slowly. She will have a crooked mouth but it doesn’t show real bad and we are hoping that as her hair grows longer on her face, it will not be too noticeable. She is so tiny and cute anyway with those big brown eyes.

Snookie still needs more surgery

Snookie will have to undergo more minor surgery on her jaw. She also needs to be spayed and has mammary tumors that need to be removed.
Snookie's fees are not over. This will definately take a toll on my budget. Snookie's Espenses

I will soon try to post some things for sale to help defray the cost of her future surgeries. Any small donation to the Snookie fund would be greatly appreciated.

She will not be going back to the same vet and I have not gotten an estimate for her spaying and tumor removal yet.

We are praying that it is not malignant.
