Our Club
The Aguman Capampangan of the Northwest is based in Portland, Oregon. Organized on June 29,
1996 at Oaks Amusement Park during a picnic, the club was the brainchild of Erning Turla who initiated its founding with the help of loyal
compatriots, Turing Villanueva and Bining Susi.
The prime requisite to become a regular member is the ability to speak Kapampangan. Spouses of members, who don't speak the language are allowed to join as "special members". The club which started with four large families that now serve as its core, brims with pride in having grown to 200 members in just a few years time, and boasts of having a singing combo of its own, as well as a choral group which gets invited by other local Filipino associations from time to time.
The primary objectives of the club are to foster unity and friendship among Pampangans,
to promote their rich cultural heritage, to
establish their identity as Pampangans and to give aid to the Philippines, especially their home provinces Pampanga and Tarlac.

Our Event
Our club sponsored a dinner-dance with live
music on June 26, l999 at the St. Ignatius School
Auditorium in Portland. The event marked the
third anniversary of our club, and any profit made
out of the $15.- ticket sales will be used for
a future medical mission to Pampanga, similar
to that of last year. Last December, in a joint
effort with World Medical Mission, we were able
to send a delegation that brought medical supplies
worth $64,000 to three towns in Pampanga. For such
humanitarian work which only a few other associations in the U.S. are able to , the Aguman Capampangan was recently conferred with an achievement award. About 350 people attended the event where there was lots of "lutong Kapampangan". The guest speaker was "cabalen" John Susi of DZXL, the host of the program "Susi Sa Balita" and who has been recently named "Most Outstanding Radio Announcer" in the Philippines.
The Aguman is now planning to hold a grand picnic at Marine Park in Cascade Locks on August
22, l999. Its purpose is to foster unity and friendship among Pampanguenos in the area by staging an opportunity for them to meet one another in a natural setting. Lydia Lalic is the over-all chairman of this upcoming activity.
