This is the best white water rafting group in Costa Rica! My wife and I have tried a couple others, but Rios Tropicales is the best. Their river guides are very fun and professional. The Pacure Lodge excursion is great, exciting, and rustic but with all the nice touches that keep it very comfortable. These are the people you need to stick with for white water rafting. Just book a trip and they will pick you up right from your hotel!

I had the best massage of my life at the full service Rebeca Studio Salon in the Real Cariari Mall in Heredia just 10 minutes from the airport and San Jose. The price for an hour long massage is only about $27, and my massage actually lasted more like 1 1/2 hours. The massuse was great, very friendly and professional! Why pay twice the price at your hotel when you can have a better massage in a beautiful private studio! The studio is located on the third floor of the mall. Phone number is 293-5611. Reservations are recommended.

This is the original and in my opinion the best canopy tour in Costa Rica. Flying over and through the rainforest on a zip-line is thrilling and offers spectacular views! This is a must while in Costa Rica.

The Rain Forest Aerial Tram (Caribbean Side) - See the beauty of the rain forest from above! Take a sky ride over and through the rainforest. This is a wonderful trip which allows you to see some of the beauties of the rain forest which you would be unable to see simply by a tour on foot. They also have a Pacific Side aerial tram close to Jaco Beach which I have not personally been on but I here it is also very pretty and gives an above ground view of a waterfall.

Try eating a granizado. They are the Costa Rican equivalent of a snow cone, but much better. They are usually topped with fruit juice, sweetened powdered milk, and sweetened condensed milk. They are great! They sell them just about everywhere, just be careful that the vendor uses clean ice and sanitary serving methods. If your are ever in Heredia, stop in the Real Cariari mall (it's a very nice mall). On the third floor there is a store called Tropical Fruits, they make the best granizados.

Also try eating at the local small restaurants called sodas. Most of them are clean any they feature delicious local food typical of Costa Rica. Try ordering la plata typica o cassada which is bascially the daily special of typical local food. They offer great food and are usually VERY inexpensive.

Try taking the bus instead of a cab. It's much cheaper and it gives you a chance to meet a lot of really nice ticos. A ticket from San Jose to just about any of the beaches will only cost you about $10 max, much less than renting a vehicle and less the trouble of maps and worrying about getting lost. (Just make sure you know where the bus is going before you get on!)
