If you are looking for the perfect place to stay for your honeymoon or romantic getaway, then Hotel Finca Rosa Blanca is THE ONLY PLACE you should look at in Heredia. They only have 9 rooms, so if you are looking for privacy and seclusion with personal attention then this is your best bet. Very close to the airport and San Jose, so if you want a central location then this hotel is perfect. The food and service is impeccable. Worth the price.

Located just minutes from the airport right on the San Jose/Herredia line. The rooms are very nice and the hotel offers the finest in amenities and the pool is beautiful. This is a great hotel stay in for a day or two when you arrive in Costa Rica. That way you could spend a little while visiting the city before you head to one of the beaches or resorts. Also has wonderful conference center facilities and even is a great place for a wedding.

Beautiful 5 star hotel in San Jose. Right across the street from the finest mall in Costa Rica, Multiplaza. This probably the most elegant hotel I have stayed in while in Costa Rica. The price is a little steep considering it is located in San Jose and you will probably be spending the majority of your time outside of the hotel, but if you want the finest in hotel accomodations, then Real Intercontintental is your best choice in San Jose.

Hotels to stay away from in San Jose / Heredia area:
Hotel Del Rey Unless you are going to Costa Rica looking for prostitutes then stay away from this hotel. It is the most popular hotel for those interested in sex-tourism. So if your not into that, don't come to Del Rey!
Hotel America Located in downtown Heredia. There are not really any huge problems with the hotel, its just that it is not that nice. The hotel seemed borderline dirty, the rooms are not that great, and the area where the hotel is located is not safe after dark.
Best Western San Jose Downtown The hotel is nice, but it is located in a very dangerous part of San Jose, especially after dark.

One of the jewels of Costa Rica! This is a must visit resort! By far one of the most unique and exquiste resorts in Costa Rica, and probably in the world. Even if you decide not to stay in Tabacon, at least come and visit the hot springs for a day. Where else can you bathe in fresh flowing hot spring pools while watching lava flow out of the top of an active volcano? There are probably a dozen different streams and hot spring pools of various temperatures and numerous waterfalls where the hot water will soothe and relax your body. Probably the best towards the end of your vacation so the hot pools can rejuvenate your body after a long trip. If you only take one piece of advice from me, visit Tabacon! You will not regret it.

A very nice hotel, cheaper than the Tabacon resort. It is similar to Tabacon in that it offers hot springs and a great view of the Arenal Volcano, but it can not offer the luxury that Tabacon offers. If the price of Tabacon is too much, then consider Hotel Los Lagos as another nice option in Arenal. Has a big crocodile zoo and observatory and a butterfly farm!

Located in Manuel Antonio area in Quepos. This is a very nice hotel for a very reasonable price. There are only about a dozen rooms so you will have very good service and the two owners will personally take care of you along with the rest of their staff. They are very knowledgeable about the area and offer as much help as you need. Manuel Antonio National Park is beautiful beach to visit, and Tres Banderas is a great hotel to stay in while you are there.
