Karnowski Kornowsky Kornowske Konoske Kornofski Koronowski (typical mispellings)
Thank you for visiting my Webpage. I am Edward Kornowski. I have been researching the Kornowski Family History since November 1996. My ancestors arrived in the US April 1880 settling in Buffalo,NY. Since that time they have spread out across the country.
Most Kornowski 's I have contacted thought they were the only ones with that name, believing that all others were gone. Nothing could be further from the truth. The USA has more than 100 Kornowski's listed in the telephone directories. My research shows that these 100 or so families desend from about ten families. These families arrived here approximately 1872 to 1915. They settled in New York,Ohio,Pennsylvania,Missuori,Michigan, and Wisconsin.
AUGUST 1998, Vacation news! Visted Cleveland, Chicago, Milwaukee and Greenbay. Gots lots of new data about Kornowski's.
Have finanlly found ship passenger lists for Five Kornowski families.
Greenbay was first in 1872. Then Buffalo 1880, then two in Cleveland 1882 and 1889. Detroit 1910.
I got to meet two of the Cleveland Familes and Three of the Greenbay desendents. I met my relatives in Milwaukee for the first time, also my Aunt in Chicago for the first time.
DECEMBER 98: Finally located village in Poland from where my ancestors came from. It is "RYWALD" . On a modern Polish map it is just south of Tzcew. I have ordered some microfilm of church records and should know more within a month.
I have recieved my grandfathers birth certificate from Poland. He was born August 31, 1878 in Riewalde,West Prussia.
Cleveland family originates in the town of Klonowka, this is 5 miles from Rywald.
Greenbay family came from Marien Werder, now Kwidzyn. No luck searching the records so far.
I am in process of reading films from Poland. They are written in German, with old script, which is very hard to read. Each film takes about 2 1/2 hours to search thru. I have 7 films to check. I can only access the film 2 nights a week, so it will take time to learn more information.
I am interested in hearing from you. You may be able to help me add to my research ,or I might be able to help you learn more about your Family origins.
Latest update: Have been contacted by Kornowskis in Brazil, Argentina,Poland, Germany,England, Scottland, and Russia.
I have made three trips to Poland, first in May 2000,in June 2003,and again in June 2005. Have met many nice Kornowskis and some very helpful Polish researchers. In 2005 I have started a DNA research project, you can click the link below to learn more about it.
