PHELPS Ancestors
William Phelps was born about 1592 prob Crewkerne, Somersetshire, England, died on Jly 14, 1672 in Windsor, Hartford, CT. About 1617 he first married Mary ? in England. She died in 1626, Children were: William b 1618, Samuel b 1621 & Nathaniel b 1624.
On 11/14/1626 William married Lady Ann Dover. (This is my line).
She was born in England and died on 8/30/1689 in Windsor, Hartford, CT
One of their children was:
Lieut. Timothy Phelps, born 9/1/1639 in Windsor, Hartford, CT, died before 9/28/1719 in CT. He married Mary GRISWOLD, dau of Edward Griswold and Margaret____, on 3/19/1662. (Mary Griswold b 10/5/1644 in Windsor, Hartford, CT, died 2/7/1717 in same.)
One of their chlldren was:
Timothy Phelps, b 11/1/1663 in Windsor, Hartford, CT died in 1729 Hebron, Tolland, CT.
He married Martha Crow on 9/28/1686. She was born in 1667.
One of their children was:
Noah Phelps, born 1/23/1693 in Hebron, Tolland, CT, died 5/4/1764 (same place.) He married Ann DYER, daughter of Henry Dyer and Mary_____, gr'dau of Mary Barrett Dyer the Quaker martyr). Ann was born 9/3/1699 in Bristol, Rhode Island.
One of their children was:
Barrett Phelps, born on 9/20/1722 in Hebron, Tolland, CT, died in 1789 Cambridge, Washington, NY. He married Hannah BIGELOW, dau of David Bigelow and Editha DAY on 2/15/1751. Hannah Bigelow was born on 11/11/1730 Colchester, New London, CT. died 6/1/1806 Cambridge, Washington, NY.
One of their children was:
Noah Phelps, born 4/4/1767 in Belcher, NY, died in 1813 Cambridge, Washington, NY. Noah married Ruth LOVELAND. Ruth was born on 2/1/1768 Glastonbury, Hartford, CT, died in 1861.
One of their children was:
Hannah Phelps, born 1/12/1790 in Cambridge, Washington, NY, died 3/9/1828 Antwerp, Jefferson, NY.
Hannah married EPHRAIM PALMER, b 1788- died 1875.
THIS COUPLE IS WHERE THE PHELPS & PALMER LINES MEET.
I will now back up and give the PALMER descendancy. When that line comes down to Hannah Phelps and Ephraim Palmer, I will then bring it forward several more generations.

Walter Palmer was born in 1585, Nottingham, England and died 11/10/1661 in Stonington, New London, CT.
He married Rebecca SHORT on 6/1/1632 in Charlestown, Suffolk, MA. Rebecca was born apx 1607 in Charlesstown, England and died 7/15/1671.
One of their children was:
Gershom Palmer, born 6/16/1644 in Rehoboth, Bristol, MA, died 9/27/1718 in Stonington, New London, CT. Gershom married Ann DENNISON, dau of George Dennison and Ann Borodell, on 11/28/1667. Ann was christened on 5/20/1649 Roxbury, MA, and was buried in 1694 in Stonington, CT.
One of their children was:
Gershom Palmer, born in 1668, Stonington, New London, CT, died in Killingworth, Middlesex, CT.
He married Sarah FENNER about 1698. Sarah was born in Saybrook, Middlesex, CT.
One of their children was:
John Palmer, born 1705 in Killingworth, Middlesex, CT, died in Dover, Dutchess, NY. John married Mary WARD, daughter of Peter Ward and Mary Joy(e) on 1/15/1730.
One of their children was:
Fenner Palmer, born 9/16/1735 in Killingworth, Middlesex, CT. He married Lydia BUELL who was born in 1736 in Killingworth.
One of their children was:
Peter Ward Palmer, born 1766 in Dover Plains, Dutchess, NY. Peter married Polly OSBORNE. Polly was born abt 1770 in NY State.
One of their children was:
Ephraim Palmer, born 5/27/1788 in Mapleton, Saratoga, NY, died 1/21/1875 in Santa Ana, Orange, CA. Ephraim married HANNAH PHELPS. (SEE SECTION ABOVE.)

Ella Hubbard, born 2/3/1853 in Turin, Lewis, NY, died 11/16/1923 in Boonville, Oneida, NY. Ella married John Henry BROWN, son of Caleb Brown and Sarah Ann VARY. John was born 6/5/1846 in Greig, Lewis, NY, died 3/25/1909, same place.
