North Carolina

MCGEHEE, Thomas; Dixon's Company; Private; Enlisted 28 May 1781, 12 months service

MCGHEE, William; Was born in Louisa County, VA in 1761. He was a private, serving five different times in Capt. Pond's compnay, Col. Wade's regiment; Capt. Bracken's company, Col. Lofton's regiment; Capt. Smith's company, Col. William Shepard's regiment; Capt. John Armstrong's company, Col. Nicholas Lewis' regiment; Capt. James Shepard's company, Col. Nicholas Lewis' regiment; all in the North Carolina line of troops. He enlisted from Mecklenburg County; was in the battle of Wilmington. He came to McLean County, Illinois in 1828, and died at Diamond Grove and is buried there. He died October 6, 1843. He was pensioned. MCGEHEE, Samuel; Lieut. under Capt. Triggs' Company in 1781. Lived in Montgomery Co, VA, formerly Boutaourt during the war. Buried in Amite Co, MS. Amite Co Chapter of the DAR had a marker dedication in 1980 recognizing his service. #344123.

MCGEHEE, William; age 79; resided in Jackson County, Alabama at time of pension; Private; Virginia State Troops; Annual allowance $30; sums received from 04 Mar 1831 to date of publication of list, $75. Revolutionary Pension Roll, Vol, XIV, Sen. Doc. 514, 23rd Congress, 1st session, 1833-1834.
