Tolkien's World
The Names of Male Characters
Here I present an incomplete list but growing list of all the male characters (men, elves, dwarves, deities, etc.) from Lord of the Rings, The Hobbit, The Silmarillion, and other of Tolkien's related tales. This is a huge wealth of names and could take a long time to finish, but when I'm done, this should be a near-complete list If you have a name to add to the list or know of a more accurate meaning for one of the names already on the list, hop on over to my message board and drop me a line.
Note: I have not included surnames except in the case of special denotations, usually for goddesses or elves, that are often used in conjunction with the first name. Lúthien, for instance, is often followed in the text by Tinúviel. For the sake of time and space, I also have not included any character descriptions. You can find out more about any of these characters by doing a web search, or I may in the future create my own character roster.
