FROM THE PAGES OF MY KNITTING JOURNAL
|
|
|

Y'ALL COME ON IN AND SEE -- My Knitting Journal. I learned to knit before I can even remember and I learned to crochet when I was in Junior High School.

Finally able to get new pictures on my page. On the left an afghan for Rae's grandson's wedding gift. A really pretty soft blue.
On the right one for friend Mark and his family. Originally done in rose, grey and off white. I feel these blues are more masculine.

It looks like knitting runs in the family. This, Sissy, is the afghan you made for your Daddy and it is in turquoise, the color of the Family Room. You will remember when me and Daddy were visiting you and I was looking for yarn this color but could not find any. Then one day sometime later we got a package and you had knitted this beautiful afghan. Such a talented daughter we do have.

Many patterns are available for both knitting and crocheting afghans. They can be made in various colors using many kinds of yarns and threads. Here are a few afghans that I made for friends and family. And so, dear ones, you may see here a picture of a gift that came from me.

Shown here is a good example of a ripple afghan, a fairly easy pattern that can be accomplished by a beginner. Ripple patterns come in many variations. There are some to crochet and some to knit. This one was knitted with worsted weight yarn and in my favorite colors, shades of pink. (Is there really any other color?) This particular one was made many years ago, so don't ask for this pattern. I cannot find it; however I have many others nearly like it that are available.

Sometimes it is quite difficult to get the colors and threads that I want here in the town where I live; however, I buy a lot from Lion Brand and Herrschner's. I have always found them to have what I need and to be courteous and prompt in sending my orders.

Two baby afghans made cradle size. These were knit using Jamie 3-ply baby yarn in Peppermint Print. This is a very soft fabric and suitable for newborns.

Hey, you don't have to only knit afghans. Pictured is a suit that I made for a Ken Doll for my dear young friend, Glynn. This suit is knitted and in the pocket Ken has a handkerchief and even a quarter in case he needs to call home. I do hope that you like seeing your doll here, dear one.

Knitted with Herrschner's 2-ply afghan yarn in pale and dark green. This from yarn left over from previous projects. And, yes, I do have the pattern still.

A snow suit for the Cabbage Patch Doll.
I do love making clothes for my young friends.

I want to thank all of you who have signed my Guest Book and sent E-mail asking for patterns and even offering some patterns that you yourselves have. How sweet you all are. It is a real pleasure to hear from you and I will be sending you more patterns as time permits. I do so much enjoy the messages as well as requests from every one of you. Let's do keep in touch.
