Going to Heaven when you die is as easy as A, B,C

Acknowledge that you are a sinner who cannot save himself or herself from hell.  Romans 3:23 says, "All have sinned and fall short of God's glory."

Believe in the person and work of Jesus Christ.  Romans 10:9 says, "If you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead then you shall be saved."

Call upon Jesus Christ to save you.  Romans 10:13 says, "Whosoever calls upon the name of the Lord shall be saved."

Do not depend on someone telling you what God wants you to know.  Get your own grasp on the Bible by:

Hearing it.

"Faith comes from hearing the Word of God." (Romans 10:17)  Listen to it at church services, on tape, or from Bible teachers on radio or television.

Reading it.

"Blessed is the one who reads this book...and obeys what is written in it!" (Revelation 1:3)  Find a good modern translation like the New American Standard, the New King James, or the Living Bible with study helps.  Read it daily verse by verse, chapter by chapter, book by book through the New Testament (Matthew to Revelation) then do the same for the Old Testament (Genesis to Malachi).  Fifteen minutes per day will get you the entire Bible in one year.

Studying it.

"...they accepted the message eagerly and studied the Scriptures everyday..." (Acts 17:11) and "Be a good workman...Know what His word says and means." (2 Timothy 2:15)  Look for:

1.  A sin to confess

2.  A promise to claim

3.  An attitude to change

4.  A command to obey

5.  An example to follow

6.  A prayer to follow

7.  An error to avoid

8.  A truth to believe

9.  Something to praise God for

Memorizing it

"Guard my words as your most precious possession.  Write them down, and also keep them deep within your heart." (Proverbs 7:2-3)  See hints below on meditating on God's word.  These are also helpful for memorization.

Meditating on it.

"(Those) who are always meditating on His laws...are like trees along a river bank bearing fruit...they never wither and whatever they do prospers." (Psalm 1:2-3)

1. Picture it

2. Pronounce it

3. Paraphrase it

4. Personalize it

5. Pray it

6. Probe it

Applying it

"Do not fool yourselves by just listening to the Word.  Instead, put it into practice." (James 1:22) and "...Whoever practices and teaches these commands will be called great in the kingdom of heaven." (Matthew 5:19)

1. What did it mean to the original hearers?

2. What is the underlying timeless principle?

3. Where or how could I practice that principle?

Most applications will focus on one of 3 relationships:

1. With God

2. Within yourself

3. With other people

The Benefits of Church Membership

 1. It identifies you as a genuine believer. (See Ephesians 2:19 and Romans 12:5)

2. It provides you with a spiritual family to support and encourage you. (See Galatians 6:1-2 and Hebrews 10:24-25)

3. It gives you a place to discover and use your spiritual gifts in ministry. (See 1 Corinthians 12:4-27)

4. It places you under the spiritual protection of godly leaders. (See Hebrews 13:17)

5. It gives you the accountability that you need to grow. (See Ephesians 5:21)
