What is a cooperative nursery school?
A non-profit school organized by parents and assisted by an affiliated community college or vocational/technical institute.
Why have cooperative nursery schools?
These schools serve as a laboratory to help parents learn techniques in guiding young children. They also provide supervised learning and socializing experiences for young children.
How will my child benefit?
The child grows physically through activities designed to develop muscle coordination, using carefully selected equipment.
The child grows intellectually by solving problems, thinking creatively, and expanding language development.
The child grows socially through play, sharing and cooperating with other children in a supervised learning environment.
The child grows emotionally by learning to channel their emotions constructively, by increasing their independence in meeting and solving problems, through the growth of self-esteem.

Parent participation involves:
Working in the classroom 2 to 3 times per month.
Working on a committee or the co-op board.
Attending monthly Parent Education meetings.
Participating in fund-raising for the school.
