Enchanting Harp Music by Norma McHenry
FOR YOUR ENTERTAINMENT

Norma McHenry follows the sun and dwells in the twin kingdoms of Newport, RI and FT Lauderdale, FL. She performs on a variety of curious period instruments, weaving a melodious and magical spell for all ages. Norma loves to recreate the medieval and renaissance periods at festivals and events.
a GAGGLE of INSTRUMENTS

Norma has a fascinating collection of instruments. Here are a just a few upon which she performs: a Celtic 34 nylon string harp by Triplett, a wire string harp by Gary MacDonald and her lovely mermaid harp, a Morgan Meadow nylon string lap harp by William Rees. Also featured are her Hurdy Gurdy, a very "cranky" instrument...no pun intended...well, maybe a little....which is based on a 12th century design, and the bowed psaltery.
NEW: Norma has acquired a Bray harp, a very unusual reproduction of a 12th century harp from Germany. It has pins that vibrate the strings- hence the term "bray", as in the braying of a mule. It has a loud and very mysterious raw sound that was meant to carry over the unruly medieval crowd. Also, Norma is studying very hard on her 100 year old set of Great Highland Bagpipes. This, by far, is the most complicated and hardest instrument she has ever played, but it is well worth the struggle.
