UNCLE
This was my very first play, written as part of a Playwriting class in 1997. It was chosen as one of the top three in the class and was performed as Reader's Theater on the last official day of class in front of an invited audience. This play has never seen the actual stage as it has some bizarre elements, one in particular, which would be difficult to pull off. Here is the story:
This is a flashback play where Jim Adkins must figure out if the events from over 25 years ago were real or imagination. Jim's uncle Jerry, a Navy S.E.A.L. during the Vietnam War is his best and closest friend. When he ships off to do battle, he promises Jim he would return. What unfolded in the months following disappeared from Jim's memory until recently. Now he enlists the help of a noted psychiatrist to help make sense of his past.
