Demo Software For Windows

Feedel has created a sample software for you to try. This software is merely a sample and does not have full functionality. You can only type a few characters as explained below.

 

DOWNLOADING INTRUCTIONS & INSTALLATION INTRUCTIONS

Under Windows 3.1

a) From File Manager double click on the Setup.exe file

b) After accepting agreement continue by click on next for program to finish installing.

 

Under Windows 95, 98, 2000, ME, NT, XP

a) From Windows Explorer double click on the Setup.exe file.

b) After accepting agreement continue by click on next for program to finish installing.

Typing in the Word Processor of Your Choice

  1. In Windows 3.1, go to Feedel Program Group and select Feedel. In Windows 95, or higher, go to Start and select Feedel under Feedel program group.
  2. Choose PhoneticA or PhoneticB or Conventional Keyboard layout.
  3. Choose Hot Key (Shift + Shift  or Ctrl + Ctrl). Hot key is used to switch language of the keyboard from Geez to English and vice versa.
  4. Start Your Favorite Program (Word processors, graphics applications, etc...)
  5. Choose the font GeezA or GeezSindeA or GeezNet or Zewditu.
  6. Activate keyboard by using hot keys. For Shift + Shift hold left Shift down and click on right Shift key to activate or deactivate.
  7. Start Typing.
  8. Type the following to get a feel of typing.

 Working in Microsoft Word

 

  1. Start Microsoft Word Application
  2. Click on Tools and Autocorrect
  3. Click on all of the boxes to turn them off.
  4. Click on Auto Formas As you Type and next to "Convert Straight Quotes to Smart Quotes" click on the box to turn it off.
  5. Click on AutoFormat and next to Convert Straight Quotes to Smart Quotes" click on the box to turn if off.
  6. Click on OK
  7. Go to Format and change Font to GeezA
  8. Activate keyboard by using the Hot Keys as explained above.

 

Toubleshooting

  1. When you type and do not get what you expected to get, make sure you have activated the Geez Keyboard as shown above. Make sure the Feedel program is still running. Make sure when you click on switch language or activate the keyboard by pressing the hot keys or clicked the icon on the bottom right corner.
  2. If for some reason your windows program does not start and you get error messages, change the copied system.ini file back to the original directory.

UNINSTALLING THE DEMO PROGRAM

1. In Windows 3.1, go to Feedel program group and select uninstall and confirm by clicking OK.

1a. Under Windows 95 or higher, go to Start and select Uninstall under Feedel Group and confirm by clicking OK.
