Our Club Activities
On Thursday, July 19, we held our installation of new officers for 2007-2008 and celebrated our 20th year as a Lions Club. Congratulations, Lion Robert Romero, President.
On October 6, 2007 we hosted a Lions Picnic in Lafreniere Park. A number of activities were planned, including the induction of a new member as part of Lions World Service month.
On November 11, we presented the first of a series of informational seminars about the current status of Immigration Law and Policies. David Ware & Associates, specializing in immigration law, gave an overview of the immigration process, with special focus on H1B and H2B visas. The event was held at Streetcar Bistro, 201 Baronne St., in New Orleans.
On January 12, 2008 the club hosted the Mardi Gras Ball at the Ladies Ballroom, in Gretna. This was a formal affair, with costumes allowed. Everyone had fun and our Mardi Gras king and queen were selected by lottery, so the reslut ws a surprise to all.
On June 7, 2008, the club will host the Philippine Heritage Celebration and Commemoration of Philippine Independence at the Kenner Pavilion, corner of Loyola and Vintage in Kenner, Louisiana. There will be demonstrations of Filipino cooking, craft and trade shows, cultural entertainment and more! Entrance is free, but donations will be accepted. Come and join us!
