Artist's style makes viewer see something that isn't
What appears at first glance, and even second glance, to be a collage of envelopes, stamps, currency and ribbon tacked to an old door is a painted illusion.Ifyou are fooled the illusion worked!
Ken Fuller paints in the trompe l'oeil (pronounced tromp loy-meaning fool the eye) style of painting. it is an exacting method of painting, in which objects are so realistically rendered that the eye is fooled into believing it is seeing the real thing.
His subjects tend to be rustic ribbon letter racks, old fashioned doorknobs and rusty hinges. You'd swear you could pick these objects right up, or feel the texture of them.

Ken was born, and grew up in New England. As a young boy, living in Mystic, Conn., he was exposed to the works of many well known Artists that summered in the area. He took lessons, at an early age, at the Mystic Art Association. Later, he attended the University of New Mexico majoring in Fine Art. He finished his Art studies at the Paier Art School in Hamden, Conn., where he was influenced by Ken Davies, Dean of the School.
