****BIG NEWS****
If you are new to this site or haven't caught up -- don't worry! This one will be staying up too.
What is
The name, FollyWorld, originated in two pieces. Folly comes from the internet's nickname for Fletcher and Holly as a couple, while World was chosen because at the time we started, the film WATERWORLD was popular... so it just seemed to fit. FollyWorld is what you might call an "alternate reality" Guiding Light. It features original storylines based on characters and situations from the television serial. FW was originally intended to feature Fletcher and Holly, as a way to deal with days that they weren't on GL, but has since grown to include many characters from the show's canvas. Not all characters from GL are included; some from the past have been brought back, and some were created specially for FW. Bios for the various characters are included, along with pictures. You are encouraged to imagine whomever you'd prefer in each role, so sometimes pictures of different actors are displayed. As for the characters created for FW, we have included possible casting choices. Again, feel free to imagine whomever you'd like in the role. FollyWorld continuity splits off from official GL canon after August 25, 1995. Anything that happened on the show after that specific date may or may not have happened within the context of FW. Holly had just found out that she was pregnant. It is from this moment on that we went off in an "alternate" direction.
The idea for this was influenced by Joe Edkin's
FollyWorld is a collaborative effort. In addition to story input and occasional scenes from Joe Edkin, other contributing writers to FW have been Pat C. (of 'Roger/Holly: the Lost Episodes' fame), Bo (who also edits on a regular basis), and a special thank you goes to dialogue slave, Linda for her tremendous amount of hard work and dedication. Another thank you must go to LNL 80 for her editing help in the early days of FW. We are always anxious to hear ideas from the readers and everyone is encouraged to try their hand at writing an episode. If you're interested, and would like to learn more about how you can contribute, contact: FollyWorld@aol.com. So far we've written over 225 scenes; our hope is to upload three every Sunday. If you're interested in catching up with those receiving FW through E-mail, contact FollyWorld@aol.com to do so.
