Friday, October 20, 2000 * * * ... Mischa Barton ("The Sixth Sense") has landed a starring role in Universal's supernatural thriller "Dragonfly". Pic, to be toplined by Kevin Costner and helmed by Tom Shadyac, goes before cameras Nov. 1. * * * TRIO PLUNGE INTO POOL PIC By BRENDAN KELLY Variety June 2nd 2000 MONTREAL -- Thesps Piper Perabo, Jessica Pare, and Mischa Barton will topline "Lost and Delirious," the first English-language pic from helmer Lea Pool. Lensing on the film, which is produced by Cite-Amerique of Montreal and Dummett Films of Toronto, kicked off last week. Pic is Pool's first feature since "Set Me Free" (Emporte-Moi). Perabo, stars in Disney's upcoming "Coyote Ugly" from producer Jerry Bruckheimer and also appears in Universal's "The Adventures of Rocky and Bullwinkle" . Barton starred in "Lawn Dogs" and last year's supernatural hit "The Sixth Sense." Pare recently made her bigscreen debut in Canadian helmer Denys Arcand's "Stardom." "Lost" is based on "The Wives of Bath," a novel by Canuck author Susan Swan, and is adapted for the screen by playwright Judith Thompson. Story is a gay-themed tale of three girls' secret cult of love and sexuality. Montreal-based Seville Pictures is distributing in Canada and TF1 Intl., which also handled "Set Me Free," is handling foreign sales. Pic will be released late this year. Producers are Richard and Louis-Philippe Rochon of Cite-Amerique and Greg Dummett of Dummett Films. * * * THE PLAYERS By VANESSA TORRES, October 20, 1999 * * * Young thesp Mischa Barton ("Lawn Dogs"), who has just signed to join Dominique Swain in Green Moon's "Tart," has also landed the starring role in Showtime's "Frankie and Hazel", which chronicles the growing pains of a young girl and her relationship with her grandmother (Joan Plowright). Thesp JoBeth Williams ("The Big Chill," "Poltergeist") steps behind the camera to direct the telepic produced by Barbra Streisand's Barwood Films. Barton, who appeared in "The Sixth Sense," is coming off roles in John Duigan's upcoming "Paranoid," from which she segued to Trimarks "Skipped Parts," opposite Jennifer Jason Leigh and Brad Renfro, for director Tamra Davis. * * *
