Variety reported on January 14 that Barbra Streisand's Barwood Films has just completed its first Children's film called Frankie and Hazel. The story focuses on the growing pains of a girl and her relationship with her grandmother. Acclaimed British actress Joan Plowright stars in the Showtime TV movie, which was directed by JoBeth Williams. Ms. Plowright enjoyed wonderful notices for her moving role in 1999's Tea With Mussolini. According to an earlier Variety report, young actress Mischa Barton co-stars. Barton has appeared in The Sixth Sense, Lawn Dogs, and will be featured in the upcoming Paranoid and Skipped Parts (opposite Jennifer Jason Leigh and Drew Barrymore). Showtime recently advised The BSMG that this new project was not expected to premiere on the cable network until possibly October 2000.  The Barbra Streisand Music Guide © 1996-2000
