LOVE
Love is something more than emotion.
Love's a heartbeat, fast as a locomotion.
Love is a thrill when it's near.
Your heart has an empty feeling
When love is not there.
Starvation of the body causes you to die.
Starvation of the heart causes you to cry.
You need love like flowers need rain.
Without this love,
Life is filled with misery and pain.
Love is joy-filled and brings good cheer.
If love is true, there should be no fear.
In order to have love, there has to be trust:
Don't abuse love or mistake it for lust.
For love is something beautiful
When it's real,
And it's more than an emotion that you feel.
Love is something sacred
That God is. . .
Love is life,
And forever shall it live!

"Love" is THE first poem I ever wrote. I was thirteen years old at the time. 1n '65 I ended the poem with "Love is something sacred that God gives," and I change it later to "Love is something sacred that God is."
