Chinese New Year Funology

The Year of the Snake

January 24 - February 11, 2001

Gung Hey Fat Choy! (good luck) is the traditional greeting that the Chinese use to welcome in the New Year. This lunar holiday lasts for 15 days beginning with the sunset the day of the 2nd new moon following the Winter Solstice and lasts until the first full moon. Traditionally the holiday is celebrated with parades, the wearing of new clothes and the exchange of small gifts.
