Earth Day Funology

April 22nd

It was on April 22, 1970 that the first Earth Day was held. Environmentalist John McConnell is the founder of Earth Day. The message of the first Earth Day was "Give Earth a Chance." Each year Earth Day reminds us that we need to take care of our planet's natural resources including the land, waters and air. Through environmental education, recycling and an awareness of the earth's natural resources we can make a difference in our planet. Activities which are symbolic of Earth Day include neighborhood clean ups, tree planting, recycling projects and anti air and water pollution campaigns.
