Mabel Hicks - Miss Mabel Ruth Hicks, 56, of Jodie, Fayette County, W.Va. died Sunday, November 25, 1979 in a Montgomery hospital, She was born July 30, 1923 at Jodie, a daughter of the late Coty Hicks and Edith Walker Hicks who resides at Jodie. Survivors in addition to her mother include three brothers, Reginald Hicks and Lewis Hicks, both of Jodie, Adrian Hicks of Warren, Ohio; three sisters, Mrs. Nina Dooley of Tracy, California, Mrs. Lois Dooley of Mount Nebo and Mrs. Edith Tackett of Warren, Ohio. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Tuesday, November 27, 1979, in the Howard White Funeral Chapel in Summersville with Rev. Billy Morris officiating, Interment will follow in Dotson-Simpson Memorial Cemetery at Keslers Cross Lanes.(White Funeral Home Memorial Card)
Lewis Alfred Hicks - Lewis Alfred Hicks, 52, of Jodie, West Virginia, died Monday, August 17, 1981, in a Huntington hospital. Born April 4, 1929 at Jodie, he was the son of Edith Walker Hicks, of Jodie and the late Cody Hicks. Surviving in addition to his mother are two brothers, Reginald Hicks of Huntington, and Adrian Hicks of Warren, Ohio; three sisters, Mrs. Nina Dooley of Tracy, California, Mrs. Lois Dooley of Mount Nebo and Mrs. Edith Tackett of Warren, Ohio. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M., Wednesday, August 19, 1981, in the Howard White Funeral Chapel in Summersville with Rev. Wesley Pennington officiating. Interment will follow in the Dotson-Simpson Memorial Cemetery at Keslers Cross Lanes. (White Funeral Home Memorial Card.)
Warren Tribune - Saturday, May 20, 1995 -Edith E. Tackett - Warren - Edith E. Tackett 59, of 2915 Merriweather St. N.W., died Friday of injuries sustained in an automobile accident at the intersection of Ohio 5 and Holcomb Road in Paris Township. Born March 21, 1936, in Jodi, W.Va., she was the daughter of Cody and Edith Walker Hicks, and lived in the area for 39 years. She was a homemaker, a member of the First Church of God of Parkman Road, co-chairwoman of the Social Committee and Women of the Church of God, and enjoyed her home and gardening. On Oct. 9, 1955, she married Franklin Tackett, who died Nov. 11, 1992.  Survivors include two sons John F. Tackett and Douglass E. Tackett, both of Warren: two daughters, Mrs. Donald(Lori) Rhine of Columbus and Mrs. Ernie(Tamila) Verril of Warren: her mother Edith Walker of Mt. Nebo, two brothers Reginald Hicks of Jodi, W.Va., and Adrian Hicks of Warren: two sisters,  Mrs. Eldon(Nina) Dooley, of Tracey, Calif., and Mrs. Gerald(Lois) Dooley of Mt. Nebo W.Va. and three grandchildren. Already deceased are one daughter Denise Tackett: one sister Mabel Hicks: and one brother Louis Hicks. Services will be held at 11a.m. Monday at the Carl W. Hall Funeral Home with calling hours from 2 to 4 and 7to 9 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in Pine Knoll Cemetery. Material contributions may be made to the First Church of God 1951 Parkman Road N.W. Warren 44485.
Warren Tribune Nov. 25, 1995 - Netta Park Hicks  - Warren - Netta Park Hicks, 82, 202 Washington St. died Thursday at the Washington Square Nursing Home after an extended illness. Born Nov. 8, 1913, in New Castle, Pa. she was a daughter of Wallace and Anna Belle White Park and moved to Warren from Cortland. Survivors include her husband,  Adrian Hicks: two sons Curtiss Melville of Philadelphia, and Richard Melville of Pensicola, Fla., one daughter, Mrs. Dick(Ellen) Rupe of Panama City Fla; nine grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Two brothers, James Park and Chester Park, and one sister, Mary Ellen Park are deceased. Services will be 1p.m. Monday at the Robert H. Roberts-Clark Memorial home with calling hours at noon Monday, burial will be in Crown Hill Burial Park.
Warren Tribune Jan. 30, 1978 - Denise Jean Tackett - Denise Jean Tackett, 18, 2915 Merriweather N.W., died at 8:26p.m. Sunday in St.Joseph Hospital, following a three year illness. She was born here Nov. 24, 1959, the daughter of Franklin D. and Edith Hicks Tackett, who survive.  Miss. Tackett, who was a senior at Western Reserve High School, had attended First Church of God. Besides her parents, she leaves two brothers, John and Douglas, and two sisters, Lori and Tammy, all at home: and maternal grandmother Edith Hicks of Jody, W.Va. Services will be held Wednesday at 11a.m. at the Carl W. Hall Funeral Home. Burial will be in Pine Knoll Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday.
Warren Tribune - In Loving Memory Mrs. Reginald Hicks - Died Monday, July 7, 1969 - Mrs. Reginald (Cleo) Hicks, 42, 6311 Shaffer Rd. N.W., died at 3:15 a.m. today in St.Joseph's Hospital, following a short illness. Born May 24, 1927, in Mount Nebo, W.Va., she was a daughter of Walter and Malissa Sebert.  A resident here for 13 years. she was employed by Trumbull Memorial Hospital from March 1956 to October, 1957. She was a member of East Farmington Free Willl Baptist. Survivors include her husband Reginald Hicks, whom she married Jan. 19, 1956; two sons James C. and Arthur A. and two daughters  Debbie A, and Mary A., all at  home: two brothers,  John and Christy Sebert, and three sisters, Mrs. Jenning's (Pearl) Dorsey, Mrs. Guy(Violet) Conard, and Mrs Willie(Lola) Groves, all of Mount Nebo.  Services will be held Thursady  at 1p.m. at the Carl W. Hall Funeral Home. Burial will be in Champion Cemetery. Friends may call at the Funeral Home from 7 to 9p.m. Wednesday. - We miss you now. our hearts are sore as time goes by we miss you more. Your loving smile, your gentle face No one can fill your vacant place.(Note dad was upset mom was born May 22, 1927)
The Nicholas Chronicle - Reginald Hicks - Reginald Hicks, 72, of Mullens, W.Va., formerly of Nicholas County, W.Va. died Tuesday, June 6, 2000, in the Raliegh General hospital at Beckley. Born August 30, 1927, at Gad, Nicholas County, W.Va., he was a son of the late Cody and Edith Walker Hicks. He was an Army veteran of World War ll and a former employee of Copperweld Steel Mills at Warren, Ohio. Survivors include two daughters Debbie Ann Neal of Dixie and Mary Ann Driggers of Sevierville Tenn; two sons, James Cody Hicks of Marietta , S.C., and Arthur Allen Hicks, of Sevierville Tenn; two sisters, Lois Dooley of Mount Nebo and Nina Dooley of Tracy, Calif; one brother Adrian Hicks of Warren, Ohio; five grandchildren.  Graveside services were held at 11a.m. on Thursday, June 8, 2000 in the Dotson-Simpson Memorial Cemetery at Keslers Cross Lanes with the Rev. Paul Young officiating. Interment followed under direction of the White Funeral Home in Summersville.(Charleston Gazette & White Funeral Home Memorial Card State the same. My sister made a mistake on the obit and death certificate Dad was born at Jodie, Fayette, County.)
Edith R. Hicks - Edith R. Hicks, 95, of Mt.Nebo, Nicholas County, WV died Friday, November 20, 1998 in the Hidden Valley Nursing Home at Oak Hill. Born February 27, 1903 in Fayette County, WV, she was a daughter of the late Samuel and Ollie Bennett Walker. She was a Methodist and a homemaker. She was preceded in death by her husband Cody Hicks in 1974. Surviving are two daughters, Lois Dooley of Mt.Nebo and Nina Dooley of Tracy, CA; two sons Reginald Hicks of Dixie and Adrian Hicks of Warren, Ohio; one brother, Frank Walker of Columbus, Ohio; thirteen grandchildren; twenty-two great grandchildren, and twenty-two great great grandchildren. Graveside services will be held at 2;p.m. on Monday, November 23, 1998 in the Dotson-Simpson Memorial Cemetery at Keslers Cross Lanes with Rev. Harold Francis Officiating. The Nicholas Chronicle March 1996 - Tinkle B. Halstead - Mrs. Tinkle B.Halstead, 70, of Bristolville, Ohio, died Saturday, March 16, 1996, of a heart attack in Antlers, Okla., while visiting relatives. She was born March 20, 1925, in Summersville, W.Va., to the late Emerson Hart and Ollie Neff. She had lived in Leavittsburg for 32 years, where she was employed by Johnson Rubber in Middlefield for 17 years. She was a life member of West Farmington VFW #7200 Auxilliary. Survivors: husband Charles Halstead Sr.; son Charles Halstead Jr. of Cortland, Ohio; daughters, Mrs. Delbart(Peggy) Vickers of Canvas, W.Va. and Mrs. Gerald(Colleen) Walker of Harrah, Okla.; brother J.P. Hart of Fayetteville, N.C.; eight grandchildren; five great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son David John Halstead, and a brother, Herschel Hart and sister, Erma Gear. Funeral services were held Wednesday, March 20, 1996, at 11 a.m. in Shafer-Winans Funeral Home. Burial was Sager Cemetery in Bristolville, Ohio
The Fayetteville N.C., Observer  Obituaries - Cumberland County- Tuesday, June 17, 1997 - James P. Hart - Fayetteville - James P. Hart- Retired Master Sgt. James Pete Hart, 69, of 731 Glensford Drive, Fayetteville, died Sunday in Cape Fear Valley Medical Center. A graveside service with full military honors will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Lafayette Memorial Park. Mr. Hart is survived by his wife, Ruth P. Hart of the Home. The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 9 at Rogers & Breece Funeral Home.
Hernando Today (Florida) Newspaper Obituary July 11, 2000 - Hope Sparks - Hope Sparks, 79, of Spring Hill, died Sunday, July 9, at her home. She was born in Drennen, W.Va., and moved to this area 28 years ago from Ravenswood, W.Va., She was a Methodist by faith. Survivors include her husband Bud; one son Billy Jr. of Spring Hill; one daughter, Carolyn Ann Cochran of Tampa; four grandchildren; and four great grandchildren.
