Mineral Collection Database Window opens in read-only mode (applies to 1.04 and 1.05)

Q) When I open the mineral collection tab from the main window,it starts to open then is immediately covered up by a window that says"Mineral collection Database-read-only mode",and I cannot enter any info.Am I doing something wrong?


A) You have not done anything wrong.  This is normal behavior.  You need to click the 'Unlock' button at the bottom of the 'Location' tab in the Mineral collection window.  The following are steps to add new mineral specimens to the mineral collection database.   

    1) Click the 'Unlock' button.
    2)  Click the >* (far right button at the bottom of the Mineral Collection window.
    3) Enter the data for specimen.
    4) When you are ready to enter the next specimen, click the > or >* button at the bottom window again.
    5) After you have entered the last specimen, simply click the 'Close' button.

Get the "Function isn't available in expressions in query expression Trim(Left([Database],255))" when running DRC (applies to 1.04 and 1.05)

Q) After installing I get a message saying "Function isn't available in expressions in query expression Trim(Left([Database],255))".     If I click OK, and try to go into a database, I get Couldn't Find File C:\DRC_Minerals.mde. Or Map.mde, or etc.

A) You need to download and install a patch to DRC.

For DRC version 1.04
 1) Simply download D104_001.exe to your DRC folder.
 2) Double-Click to extract the file.  (Choose your DRC folder as the extraction destination).  It will overwrite the drc.mde that this in the DRC folder.
 3) Start up DRC from the Start menu.

For DRC version 1.05
 1) Simply download D105_001.exe to your DRC folder.
 2) Double-Click to extract the file.  (Choose your DRC folder as the extraction destination).  It will overwrite the drc.mde that this in the DRC folder.
 3) Start up DRC from the Start menu.

When the Mineral Collection Window opens its Blank and reads Mineral Collection Database - Read-Only Mode (applies 1.05 only)

Q) When I open the Mineral Collection Window, its empty and the top of the Window says Read-Only.

A) You need to download and install a patch to DRC.

1) Download D105_002a.exe into your DRC folder.
2) Double-click on the file to extract 'drc.mde' from it.
3) Allow it to overwrite the drc.mde file in your DRC folder.
4) Open the program from the Start menu.
