SELECTIONS FROM
THERE IS STILL TIME
THERE IS STILL TIME, written by Gary Johnson in 1981, revised in 2001.  "Only when you don't look up do you find yourself looking down"

FLEE AS A BIRD, written by M.S.B. Dana in 1857.  When this song was first published in 1857 the melody quickly swept the country and became very well known.  New Orleans jazz artist, Jelly Roll Morton, used this song melody in the introduction for his 1926 recording, Dead Man Blues.  In the 1960's Flee As a Bird came into a third life, this time as a country music classic.  in 2001 Gary and Donna render an original acoustic style version of this song which is complimented by the rich cello sound.

GIVE THEM ALL TO JESUS, written by Benson/Johnson in 1975.  Donna began singing this song in 1976.  25 years later, it is one of her favorite Christian songs.  Billy "Thunder" Mason tastefully completes this arrangement with his  bossa nova style percussion.

HE SHALL BE SAVED, written by Rich Easter in 1990.  Rich Easter resides in Dayton, Ohio and is a personal friend to Gary and Donna.  Rich's splendid musical setting of the words of  Christ  is emotionally  stirring.  Gary and Donna are priviledged to have the opportunity to record this wonderfully composed song.

THE CHURCH IN THE WILDWOOD, written by William S. Pitts in 1857.  During a trip to Bradford, Iowa, Pitts was impressed by the beauty of a particular wooded area where he envisioned a church building being erected.  Upon his return home, he wrote a poem about the imagined church and set it to music.  Years later, Pitts returned to Bradford to teach music  and was pleasantly surprised to see a small church being erected on the very spot where he had imagined a church years before.    At the dedication of the new church building, his singing class from the music academy sang The Church in the Wildwood for the first time.  Gary and Donna's upbeat arrangement of this beloved song will bring a smile to your face.

NOTHING BETWEEN, written by C.A. Tindley in 1905.  Charles Tindley was born of slave parents in Maryland in 1856.  He began his career as an itinerant preacher and camp-meeting singer.  In 1902, he founded in Philadephia the East Calvary Methodist Episcopal Church which was renamed Tindley Temple in 1924.  One day Tindley was in his study working on a sermon when a gust of wind blew some papers over top of his work.  "Now, now" he thought to himself, "let nothing between."   Gary and Donna render a moving, close vocal harmony rendition of this classic hymn song.

ONE BREAD, ONE BODY, written by John B. Foley in 1978.  Gary and Donna provide reflective orchestration of this communion hymn song.  Gary's flute offering is especially contemplative.

LOVE IS SURRENDER, written by Ralph Carmichael in 1968.  Layered voices, marimba, and a samba beat are combined by Gary and Donna in this classic 1960's contemporary Christian song (which was recorded by The Carpenters in the 1970's).

I WON'T LAST A DAY WITHOUT YOU, written by Paul Williams and Roger Nichols in 1972.  This song has been recorded by numerous artists as a love song.  Gary and Donna weave the hymn song, Without Him, into their arrangement confessing in this selection their day to day dependence on Him...
"When there's no getting over that rainbow, when my smallest of dreams won't come true, I can take all the madness the world has to give, but I won't last a day without you...Without Him I would be dying, without Him I'd be enslaved, without Him life would be hopeless but with Jesus, thank God, I'm saved

SET ME ON FIRE, written by Ryan Delmore in 1998.   As the final selection of this CD collection, Set Me On Fire, is an energetic arrangement which rounds out the musical styles represented.
