The Lull Before the Storm |
Jim
Hunter supplied this Picture of Team 1A2, waiting at the
pad for insertion. We would like to place names to the
faces and any other information, ie: call sign, pictures
and stories of their patrols.
I have a large
picture of this team but its size (4megs) is too big to
place in this format.

Sgt. George Lande |
Sgt. George Lande
This is a picture of Sgt. Lande holding his Navy Commendation Medal. George used to get a lot of "grief" due to his earning four (4!) Purple Hearts.
Sgt. Lande was quite an outrageous and humorous Marine, and was also a competent and well-respected team leader. George was due to rotate soon; but, on the 8th of June '69, he volentarily joined a 10-man SID patrol inside the DMZ because of his experience in the area. The team ran into "some" NVA and George was hit. Corpsman Ken Sawyer advised that he was able to get George medivaced on a Scarface gunship to the hospital ship but he died three days later.
George is probably still pulling jokes and trying to recon Heaven. He is the pure example of the Marine Corps Motto. "Semper Fi, George"!

Short Timer |
This is
Corporal "?", the Dustlite 2A2 Team Leader.
This is what a Recon
Marine does when he's too short to go to the field. Would
like to know more about him.
 |
Corrigan |
Recon Team
Member "Corrigan". Anyone have
any other information about him, let me know.
 |
Williams |
"Will"
Williams and an unknown Team Member.
Let's get some more information
about these two Marines. Who, what, where they were from,
where they are now, etc.

| Unknown and Kit Carson Scout |
2A2 Hooch
This
picture was provided by Jim Hunter. He believes it is a
picture of the Kit Carson Scout (on the right) and he's
not sure of the Marine (any help?).
The
only Scout that Hunter can really remember was the one
assigned to Team 1A2. That Scout stands out in his memory
"since he had to be at least 60 years old."
What's that old saying? "Old Soldier's never die,
they just smell that way?" Oh well.

Nothing
here yet. Looking forward to any information coming in.

We'll be placing links to other sites
here. They will include sites of possible interest as to
other Marine sites, Vietnam and other unit locations that
Recon may have worked with while in country. Semper Fi.
