Buttermilk and Fruit Shake
BUTTERMILK AND FRUIT SHAKE

If you enjoy the tang of fresh yogurt in a yogurt smoothie, the buttermilk in this shake should be appealing. I am ever looking for buttermilk recipes because it is one of my favorite ways to get my calcium--and because some of my fondest memories of my dad are of him and me sharing a glass of buttermilk together in the evening. Here’s to you, Dad!


1 cup buttermilk, chilled

1/2 cup frozen fruit of choice (strawberries, blueberries, peaches, pineapples, etc.)

1 tsp. vanilla

2 packets of Nutrasweet (or to taste)*

Place all ingredients in blender. Blend well. Serve immediately. My favorites are strawberry and blueberry. Be creative and enjoy!

*I modified this recipe for a diabetic diet. You may use regular sugar in place of the sweetener.
