Leah Gladson of Gladson Creations, a self taught Figurative Sculptor specializing in portraits. I also do faeries that are sold on Ebay. I have been sculpting for about seven years. I am a past winner of the AADA Doll Challenge held every year in May. I have been published twice, once for my winning 2002 AADA Doll Challenge sculpture in the November 2002 Doll Crafter Magazine and once for the portrait of Joanna Stanley commission in the September 2004 issue of Contemporary Doll Collectors Magazine. The portraits you see here are some that I have done for the pure pleasure of recreating the likeness of a famous person. I guess you could say that I take pride in how realistic I can make them appear! I also do commissions of portraits for those who are not so famous!!

|
Jimi Hendrix was the first serious portrait that I attempted. He measures about 18 inches from the top of his hair to the bottom of his shoes. His clothing was made to resemble the outfit he wore at the Monterey Pop Festival. His flaming guitar has glass flames made by Meagan, my niece. Jimi is a full sculpt made in polymer clay. He now resides in a private collection.

|
Muhammad Ali was inspired by a documentary that I was watching. The whole sculpture took about two days to complete! He measures appoximately 10 inches tall. His boxing togs are made of satin and his boots and gloves are made of leather. He was made as a gift for my wonderful father, the man who taught me to appreciate boxing as a sport!

|
Tony Braxton was the first female portrait that I did. She was quite a challenge to get just right! The most difficult part of this sculpture was trying to figure out how to make her high heels strong enough to hold up 22 inches of figure. She is wearing a leather outfit that has individually hand tied fringes hanging from it! She is in a private collection.

This portrait is a commission that I did for a client with an unusual request. She wanted her portrait done in an Art Deco style. The small picture inserted in the figure's picture is a snapshot of the client. The gown has a hand beaded train. The scarf on the figure is also hand beaded. She is wearing gold leather shoes and has long acrylic nails. This was one of the most challenging figures that I have accomplished! This sculpture was published in a recent article on commissions in Contemporary Doll Collectors magazine. She is in a private collection.
