Challenge Figurative Sculptures
For those who don't know what a Challenge Doll Competition is all about, let me explain............you are given a title and the parameters of that title and have to create a figure that fits.  The figures shown here are figures that I have entered or was going to enter into a Challenge of this sort.  Some have won awards and some haven't, but then again, you can't win them all!!
Woman Cubed
This is the first challenge figure that I entered.  I had just joined the American Academy of Doll Artists and it was one of the opportunities that the organization offered to doll artists.  The title of the 2001 Challenge was Pandora's Box, each entry had to have a box in it somewhere or be a box.  The head, chest and pelvis of this figure are boxes that open.  The figure represents the issues of modern day women and her complexity.  She is in a private collection.

Purr-fectly Elegant
This one was sent to the same Challenge as Woman Cubed...........it did not win any acclaim, and I think it was because they didn't understand the concept.  It represented the awful things come from a litter box, and the elegant Cat's trouble accepting her public facilities!  She is in my private collection.
Omelets, Anyone!?
Another set made for the AADA Challenge.  The title for the 2202 Challenge was Fractured Fairytales, I did Humpty Dumpty with a nasty little twist!  He was a big hit, as you can see from the awards that I won this time!  This is one of my proudest moments in the Doll making arena!  And one of my most embarrassing...........I didn't catch the mispelling until I had aready sent it to the Challenge!  This one is a private collection.
The Finishing Touch
This figure was made for the AADA Challenge, but didn't make it there!  The title for the 2004 Challenge was A Day at the Circus, but he couldn't make his appearance!  I had a great feeling that this one would have done well, but the circumstances were beyond my control this year!  He is available.
