AFSCME LOCAL #3608

CONTRACT RATIFIED

After several months of negotiations, a contract was approved and ratified between this local and SAAP management. Due to the current fiscal condition of Illinois, wage increases were limited to the current fiscal year, with "wage reopeners". However, SAAP management has assured the members of this local that it is commited to at least reaching parity with the salary schedule enjoyed by OSAD.
Local President, Greg Slovacek, noted that it was significant that this contract passed by a wider margin than did the previous contract, which was negotiated during better fiscal conditions. Slovacek commended the neogtiating team, and especially executive board member, Richard London, for their hard work on this contract.

LOCAL 3608 ELECTION SET FOR 9/28/02

Local President Greg Slovacek has formally noticed the Annual Meeting of this Local for September 28, 2002, at 11AM, at Ryan's Resturant in Champaign, Illinois. Among items to be addressed will be the election of officers, executive board members and trustees for the next two years. Also on the agenda will be reports from Erin Gorman, AFSCME Staff Rep for this Local, and other matters of organizational interest. Members are urged to attend.

Site To Be Discontinued

Local President Greg Slovacek expressed some surprise and regret that this website had not seen more activity than it did during the past two years of his tenure as president of this Local. Accordingly, the site will discontinued on September 29, 2002, at 12:01 AM. Slovacek indicated that, since the site was not being utilized, that he had other projects that he could devote the web space toward. The last posting on the current site will be the results of the Local's election on 9/28/02. After that, members of the Local are directed to the AFSCME and Council 31 Websites for further information of a more general nature.
