   My name is Samuel Dean Jackson; b. 26 Jan,1941, in Kenova,Wayne,WV.

I have traced one line of the Dean family back to Sir John Henry Ferguson
born 1692 in Scotland. Contact me by E-Mail for further info on that.

The maternal side of my line starts with my mother, Dove Hazel Dean, "Doe" b. 4 Nov.,1912 in Ft. Gay, WV. Died 13 Dec.,1985. Burried in Union Cemetery,Louisville,Stark,Ohio.Dove H. Jackson had only one child, Samuel Dean Jackson. Dove mrd Sam Meadows Jackson in Boyd County,KY on 15 Oct.,1932. (See below).

Dove H. Dean's parents: Charles John Dean, b. 19 Aug.,1888 in Ft.Gay,WV. I have Charles' original birth cetificate. Died Nov,1967 ,Canton,Stark,Ohio. Burried at Forrest Lawn Cemetery, Canton,Ohio. Mrd 8 Aug,1907 in Catalpa,Lawrence,KY to Effie B.Grimm, b.  1892 in Johnson County,KY. Died  1958. Burried next to husband,Charles J. Dean.

Dove H. Dean had three sisters: Marie E."Rea", b. 24 Jan,1909, died 26 Sept, 1967, Florence Evelyn,"Twick", b.,20 July,1920,Died 11 Aug.,1957 in Canton,Stark,Ohio.Mrd Earl Clark; and Jewell,"Jude",mrd last name Smeathers, burried at Forrest Lawn Cemetery,Canton,Ohio.All Four were born in Ft.Gay, Wayne,WV.

Marie Dean and Jewell Dean had no children. Florence Evelyn had two children,Donald GeneClark, b abt 1939, Mrd Barbara Parker "Vic", in Elwood, IN. Don & Vicas of Sept,2000 living in Shannon,MS,  Have 3 Dtrs: Donna Jean,Mikel Ann, and Victoria, all 3 drts living in the Shannon,Ms area.

Florence Evelyn's Dtr, Judith Marie Clark "Jude", was born 1 Oct,1943 in Canton,Stark,Ohio.She had one son Shawn Leyda,living in Ozark,MO. and 2 step children;
Brian and Terri. Died 2 Sept,2000 in Tupelo,Lee,MS.Burried in Lee Memorial Cemetery in
Verona,MS.

Charles J. Dean's parents were: John Booker Dean, b. 13 Jan,1860 in Ft.Gay,WV. Died 16 Nov,1938 in Cabell County,WV. Mrd Effa Wellman, b., 6 Oct,1876. Charles had several siblings, but only remember two: Lonnie Dean (A minister) and Dockey Dean.

John Booker Dean's parents were: Joseph H. Dean, b. 14 April,1831, died 10 June,1863 in Wayne County,WV, mrd to Martha Osburn on 29 March,1855,in Wayne County,WV. Martha  b.,1839.

Joseph H. Dean's parents were: Joseph Dean, b. 1792, and Elizabeth Ferguson, b. 1803.
Elizabeth's father was: William Ferguson, b. 1777.

                  THE JACKSON'S

The paternal side of my family begins with my father: Sam Meadows Jackson, b. 15 Feb,
1915 at Grayson,Carter,KY. Died 6 Oct.,1974 at Canton,Stark,Ohio. Burried at
Union Cemetary in Louisville,Stark,Ohio. Mrd Dove Hazel Dean 15 Oct., 1932 in Boyd
County,KY. Served in World War II in the U.S. Marine Corps. Retired as Crane Operator from Ford Motor Co.,Canton,Ohio. 5 ft. 8 inches tall, 140 lbs as a youth. Very dark ruddy complextion.

Sam Meadows Jackson's parents were : James S. Jackson, b. Oct,1887 in Ashland,Boyd,KY.
Burried at Dock's Creek Cemetery,Kenova,WV. Mrd 23 Dec., 1908 to Ottie Meadows, b. 23 Dec., 1890 at Grayson,Carter,KY. Burried in Capel County,WV. Ottie's parents were Samuel Meadows b. 10 Feb,1835 in WV and Mary Mckinney. Samuel's parents were joe Meadows and Hannah Mutters. James Jackson was a farmer after retiring from the railroad "roundhouse" in Kenova,WV.

James S. Jackson's mother was: Catharine Jackson b.,abt 1866, in Grayson,Carter,KY.
Catharine (AKA:"Katie" and "Kate"), was  not mrd at time of James's birth. Research as of 30 April,2000, indicates no siblings for James. Katie Jackson later (8 June,1894), mrd
Stephen Stephens. Witnesses were James and Larkin Jackson. Mrd at James' farm.

Catharine Jackson's parents were: James Jackson And Nancy Selvage. James was b.,abt 1832 in Magoffin County,KY. and died 23 Feb,1915 of "paralysis". He is burried at Old
Grayson Cemetery on Hillcrest Drive, Grayson,KY. James served in the 40th KY Volunteer
Mounted Infantry,Company K,as a corporal, from 20 July,1863 to 30 Dec.,1864.
He has a military tombstone. Nancy Selvage was b.,abt 1834 in Carter County and died abt 1900. It is believed that James was mrd two more times after 1900. Nancy Selvage's parents were: James Selvage, b.,abt 1796 in VA. and Jemina Selvage b.,abt 1800 in TN.

James and Nancy Jackson had the following children: James Asa ;b.,4 July 1856, died  6 July, 1933, burried at "Old Grayson Cemetery", Grayson,KY;Samuel;abt 1861, Eliza;abt 1862,General;b.,18 Dec, 1864,died 9 Dec,1929;Catharine;abt 1866, and Larkin;male, abt 1869.

Note: On a deed from Katie Jackson and James Jackson and Nancy Jackson, dated Feb 1892
a "fail bond" for the appearance of Larkin Jackson in Grayson,Carter County,KY
Criminal Court for "striking and wounding another person", with intent to kill. Trial set for April,1892.

James Jackson's parents were William Marcum or Mericle and wife Betsy Jackson. No other info on them at this time. It is believed they lived for a time in Harlan County,KY.


                                            THE GRIMM fAMILY

Effie B. Grimm ( see Charles Dean above). Effie's parents were: Charlie Grimm, mrd Emmazetta Borders Grimm, died abt 1900. Charlie Grimm later changed the family name to Graham.
