J.J. Swistak #12- Here it is, the start of my collection! This jersey was worn by J.J. during Michigan's 2002-2003 season. It is a size 50, Nike dazzle cloth home white jersey. These jerseys are the highest quality around, with triple stiched lettering, mesh underarms, drawstring neck, and University seal patches on the shoulders. These Nike jerseys are made with all colors sublimated onto the outside of the shirt, leaving the inside completely white. This prevents the colors from fading or bleeding in the many wash cycles of a long season. Swistak had a successful senior year in this sweater. He was a natural forward, but dropped back to defense to compensate for injuries. He always played his heart out to stay in the Wolverines lineup.His gritty style of play is evidenced by the numerous stick marks, board burns, and cuts on this jersey. This jersey was worn in a game for the final time on March 21, 2003 at Joe Louis Arena in Detroit. That night the Wolverines beat Ohio State 3-0 to advance to the championship game of the CCHA Super Six Tournament. Swistak had an assist, 2 penalty minutes, a +2 rating, and was named the third star of the game. I'm extremely proud of this jersey, and I look forward to wearing it in the Yost stands again next season!

MARK MINK #25:

Mark Mink #25- This jersey belongs to my girlfriend Sara. It was worn by RW Mark Mink, her favorite player, during the 2002-2003 season. It is a size 52, Nike dazzle cloth jersey from the same set as the Swistak jersey. Mink also enjoyed a successful senior year. He was a grinding third line winger, and his jersey shows it in several spots with stick marks and board burns. The photos to the left and right show Mink in action in this jersey against Miami. Mink was a competitor off the ice as well, taking home last season's Carl Isaacson Award, given to the player with the highest G.P.A. on the team. This jersey was also last used in the March 21, 2003 game against OSU.

Joe Kautz #11- Kautz did not see a lot of playing time during the 2002-03 season, but he took his role as a backup player in stride. This sweater does not show a lot of wear due to its limited use. This was the second one of his jerseys that I purchased, as I also have one on my 2003-04 page.
