My Pre-Bells Palsy Face - June 2004

September - 2004 - 1 week after BP struck
(and I look as bad as I feel - what the heck has happened to me?? I don't even recognize myself when I look in the mirror - and oh lord does my eye hurt!)

8 weeks later - my eye is not hurting as much as it was and my face no longer feels like it is sliding off my skull - but I am so miserable with my appearance and keep wondering what I did to deserve this!! Eating is a chore and talking is ridiculous!

12 weeks later (and the totally I look like crap and I am never going to look any better day) - I think my face is beginning to improve - my mouth is definitely not drawn down as much and my evil eye is losing some of it's weird look - but I have been very depressed some days and don't want to leave the house except when I have to. At other times I think I am beginning to get used to BP as scary as that is.

My BP hit on August 18, 2004 - this is me on November 20, 2004. You can see quite a bit of improvement but I still have a ways to go until my face is back to normal. It's been a long and depressing journey but one that has helped me take a long hard look at my priorities and reconfigure what's really at the top of my list. I still don't know if I'll have a hundred percent recovery - but I'm much happier today (in many ways) than I was when it first hit.
