Chronicles Of An
Internet Writer
The Book

An Excerpt From "Chronicles Of An Internet Writer"

Ten years ago, developing a skill for writing was something that could only be obtained
in the stuffy classrooms of a university. Of course, many aspiring writers would secretly keep dozens of notepads and journals hidden under their pillows and dream of one day completing a manuscript. The dream would continue; the vision of finding a publisher would surely weigh heavily on the minds of such writers. Breaking into the cliquish and often snobbish world of paper publishing was surely part of the dream.

Today, with the innovation of the great super highway and the inflow of constant information that is mandated in order to sustain the waves of the WWW, conglomerates and novice businesses, organizations, institutions, e-commerce hopefuls and the media, have all plunged into the super highway in hopes of obtaining a chunk of the infinite audience that loyally clicks on in search of information.

It is interesting to note that along with flashy web pages, the sophisticated graphics, the bothersome yet necessary advertising banners, one of the most important features necessary in order to possess an Internet presence is focused on the content of a channel or portal: the writing content.

No longer able to survive by merely placing telephone calls to potential customers and present lengthy chatter about their product lines and/or services, and no longer able to survive by merely recruiting distinguished-looking representatives to go door to door selling, businesses and industries have realized that in order to survive and compete they must obtain a presence on the World Wide Web.

While on- the- job training exists in the world of marketing and diversified businesses such as Car dealers, Electronics and Jewelers, training on making sales, product line knowledge, etc., the prerequisite for presenting an industry or product line in the form of visual and textual format is not something new. Now, with the immense popularity of the WWW, companies are being forced to hire Internet gurus and content writers in order to produce a quality Internet presence for their products and services.

Recognizing that the WWW is not intended to only cater to e-commerce presence, entrepreneurs quickly discovered that Internet users would require a vast amount of resources in order to accommodate their need for quick and reliable information on any imaginable topic. thus, the birth and arrival of informational portals.

Alas, the WWW has become the biggest informational directory in existence! A simple search on any given keyword will produce hundreds and thousands of sites allegedly equipped to supply surfers with information pertaining to their inquiry. Although many of the available sites on the WWW are operated and maintained by individuals, much of the information provided by a simple search is supplied by informational portals.
