Welcome to Journal Page 2!
8-18-2000: I had to begin thinking about my site in memory of Ojo because I was taking some pictures and I think the flash scared her. I think she was knocked out by the flash of the camera. Anyway, we left her limp body in the tank to see if she would come back to life. I went to see Godzilla 2000 in the meantime. It was hilarious. Anyway, when I came home she was fine and in her tree. God bless Ojo and I'm very thankful that she didn't pass away.

8-19-2000: Today I think all my lizards are fine and Ojo seems recovered from her scare. Wolfgang was going everywhere that Ojo was going because I think he was trying to protect her even though he normally spends more time with Gex. I put some crickets in and they each had a few.

8-20-2000: Today I went somewhere so I didn't spend much time with my lizards. Before I went out I fed them some crickets. I can't wait till Wednesday when I'll get some pictures on my computer to put on this site in a neat photo album.

8-21-2000: Today when I was sleeping my Mom fed the anoles some crickets. When she closed the lid again, Ojo's tail got caught. My Mom didn't realize till a minute later and she lifted the lid up. She was fine but her tail was bruised. The tail didn't break off so it probably didn't hurt her too much.

8-22-2000: Today I worked on the web site a lot. Check out the Photo Album.
I also made sure they had plenty of water on a hot day. Gex was hugging Wolfgang on the hammock almost all day. I also took Gex out and petted her a little bit.

8-23-2000: Today I didn't do much with my anoles. They were on the hammock a lot. The hammock has a little pocket and Gex and Ojo really like to go in it. It is kind of like a dog house.

8-24-2000: Today I fed my anoles some of the crickets that are still alive. They must of been hungry because they gobbled them up without second thought. I had to clean their hammock because of Wolfgang unfortunately considers it his bathroom up there. I also fed them some big, juicy silverfishes.

8-25-2000: Today I fed them the crickets that were remaining that I didn't put in yesterday. They ate them readily. They also were, I observed on the hammock
a lot as usual. They really like the little pouch that is on the hammock. It came when I folded the ladder into a hammock.

8-26-2000: Today I kind of followed what they would do throughout the day. Basically their day was like what I am about to write. In the morning, Gex and Wolfgang are asleep together in the little pouch of the hammock. Ojo was in the tree. First, Wolfgang would go down to ground level and walk around and Gex would watch him from the edge of the hammock. Then, Gex would climb up the tree to spend some time with Ojo. Next, they would all be on the ground together. Then in the night, Wolfgang and Gex would go to their home; the hammock, and Ojo to her home; the tree.

8-27-2000: Today they were very lazy. They were resting in the hammock and the trees. There was plenty of sunlight and they took it nicely. They did a lot of sunbathing and I made sure they had plenty of water to prevent dehydration.

8-28-2000: Today they were sunbathing a lot. As always I made sure they had plenty of water so the won't get to thirsty. Pretty soon I need to get some more crickets so they don't starve. I will get them about two days from now.

8-31-2000: Yesterday I stocked up in the food department and bought 60 crickets for the anoles. I fed them at night so the females weren't interested but Wolfgang, got one of the fly after jumping off his hammock. Then I turned the light off so he couldn't get any more. Today they did some sunbathing. I am going to go give them some crickets right now so I will talk to you later.

9-1-2000: Today I fed them some crickets and put a suction cup under a part of the hammock because it was drooping down in the corner. When I gave them crickets it was in the night so they could wake up to a snack. Maybe Wolfgang would sneak down for a midnight snack. Anyway. Make sure you visit the

9-3-2000: Today it wasn't very sunny out so my anoles didn't get to sunbathe. Oh well. I gave them water as usual. I fed them crickets. By the way, don't you think it is really frustrating when all the crickets die before they get fed to the little green monsters? The females just didn't seem interested in the food because they would go right under their noses and they would not eat. Wolfgang on the other hand was his usual self. He ate plenty of the crickets. One of the females however did get a big juicy silverfish.

9-4-2000: Today it was a rainy and cloudy day so the anoles didn't get to sunbathe. I didn't feed them crickets today but I will tomorrow. I also made sure they had water. Just a word of note; I'm very surprised the plants that are in service right now have lasted so long.

9-5-2000: Today I had one of the biggest scares I've ever had with my anoles. This event was as bad as the time when Ojo almost died. Anyway, I was kind of bored so I went over to my anole tank so I could take Gex or Ojo out. I caught Gex and took her out to play for a little while. So I was sitting on a chair and she was crawling around. She went up my arm and on to my shoulder, you know how hard it is to catch them from that position unless somebody gets the little critter for you. And then, ping! That was the sound that the lamp made when she hit it. Then the search was on. My Dad happened to be next to me so he helped and so did my Mom. We had the flashlight and we searched. We took a painting off a wall. We turned over a chair. And then my Dad went over to the computer and there she was crawling around on a floppy disk. Whew! That was a close call!

9-6-2000: Today was a more normal day. Nothing scary happened. But there was some real nice excitement. I fed them like 15 crickets because the crickets were going to die soon anyway. So they were really eating. Even the females were chowing down but the big Wolfgang was just gorging himself with these insects. He would stand upside down on the glass and then when one would go under and he would get it.

9-9-2000: Today the anoles were eager for some sun. It was cloudy all day so they weren't able to really sunbathe. I have to buy some more crickets soon even though they have had a few big great big juicy silverfishs.

9-20-2000: Hey! Haven't talked to you in a little while. School has started and I haven't been able to update the page. I will try to fit it in my schedule to update it as much as possible. Today I sprayed their tank right away with water. Sitting around while I'm at school on a surprisingly hot day for September sunbathing. After a little while I would think that they would start to get thirsty. I have to get some crickets soon or they will starve and I don't want that to happen so I should head over to the shop for some bugs.

9-24-2000: Hey! Today is the last day of the weekend, Sunday. I and have to get crickets tomorrow! Boy! I did some major cleaning yesterday. I scraped all the poop off the wall and off the hammock and put some new plants in. I am glad. It was getting to be disgusting in there. I think it is mean to my anoles to make them live in the conditions that they were living in so I had to fix it up. I was able to take the two females out temporarily but when I tried to catch the male I spent half the time looking down his throat so I thought better of it.

9-26-2000: Yesterday I had a horrible time trying to find some crickets. First I went to Petco, but they only had those huge ones that gave the anoles trouble. Then I went to this puppy shop that had live crickets. The puppies were really cute. Anyway, I asked for three dollars worth of crickets and guess what? The guy who gave them to me just give me this huge crickets! Oh well. I couldn't give them back or else he would think that I'm too picky. So when I got home I gave them a few of the crickets and the two females forced one down each. It wasn't pretty. But it got the job done for now.

8-6-2000: Hey! Long time no update. I have a lot of homework and that gets in the way of me updating my page. A few days ago I got a few of the right kind of crickets, nice and small. I think the anoles like them because they seem to be eating them. Today they were still on the hammock.

8-7-2000: Hey! I am taking advantage of the weekend to try to update the page a little bit. The way I fixed my hammock is messed up because of the angle. It is hard for me to see them and I don't like it. Also, they have been ingoring their crickets. I hope it is just because they aren't hungry instead of some illness.

8-8-2000: Hi! I decided I need a heat lamp. It's getting pretty chily here in the fall and the anoles aren't very active. Everybody knows that lizards like heat and when they have it they become more active. For example, all they do is hang around on the hammock where I can't see them and when they went down on the ground none of them took the slightest interest in the crickets even Wolfgang wasn't interested. Next time I go to Petco I'm going to get a heat lamp for them.

8-9-2000: Today, and I still have to get a heat lamp, the anoles seemed to be more active. Maybe the conditiions were warmer and more to their liking. Anoles, like all lizards, are more active in heat. However, they still aren't eating.

8-11-2000: Today, I got my heat lamp. The guy who worked at Petco was really helpful. I asked for 10 crickets, but he offered that I could have 12 for a dollar. Also, he helped me get the right heat lamp and bulb. He also dusted the crickets with calcium for me. And to top it off he gave me a factsheet on care of anoles. If you need a good pet supply shop for your anoles, I definetely suggest Petco. They have great service.

8-13-2000: Yesterday I left the heat lamp all day while I was at school. They like it a little bit but then they go and kind of hide from it. There still is a few crickets in the tank that the anoles haven't eaten yet. I just turned the light on, and the anoles seem to want to bask in the light and heat a little bit.

8-14-2000: Today I had the light on for the anoles for most of the day. They were basking under the light on the hammock. There was one funny time when they were all huddled together like a ball. Gex was on top of Wolfgang and Ojo was on top of Gex.

8-15-2000: Today I decided to have the lamp on the whole day. Every so often the anoles would bask in their hot spot, the hammock. When I have the lamp on the temparature on the hammock is about 90 degrees. Then they would hang upside down on the screen that was close to the light but not right under it like the hammock is. Then they would move a little further away. Finally, they would go back to bask on the hammock, repeating the process throughout the day.

8-16-00: Today after I got out of school, I went to Petco and I got 12 crickets. Then at home, I put the crickets in and turned the light on. It took the anoles a little time to warm up and get active. I left for five minutes and when I got back they were no crickets left. Hee hee hee.

8-20-2000: Today while was at school my Dad was working the lights of the
tank for me. When I am away at school I really appreciate my Dad operating the anoles UVB. Anyway, so that is a great help because if the anoles don't get their light they will die of being cold. I will get some crickets next week.

8-21-200: Today it was the weekend so I was home with the anoles. I was able to maintain their light all day and at night I took Gex out and played with her for a little while. She was a bit skittish because she had not been out in a while but she setled in and turned a nice green after a while.
