How is portrait like landscape? Perhaps face is to the person as land formations are to the planet. All the character that comes with time and the elements (water, wind and sun) paint the rocks with traces of the Eternal One and so bring landscape to life. People wear the image of their "being" in their face. The portrait is landscape. Landscape is portrait. Maybe mountains are people too or at least divine slow moving creatures. How much more evidence does one need to believe in eternity after a visit to the Sierra. Take a hike in the High Sierra and recognize who you are. Breathe in the Infinite One and know all is well and good. If I could only capture so much in a painting. Included here are: "Going Home" (west of Bishop); "So Godful" (Palisades Lake below Mather Pass); "Inyo Valley" (old cottonwood from I-395); "Hope" (looking back at storm in Kern Valley from below Forester Pass); Big Emerald Lake (up the trail from Lake Sabrina ... good fishing); "Garnet Sunset" (sunset view of Lake Garnet from the base of Banner Peak west of Mammoth Lakes); and "Mt. Goode Revisited" (good climbing peak adjacent to Bishop Pass). GregHigh@aol.com
