ON THE OCCASION OF THE 50TH ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATION OF AREA 51 IN MAY OF 2005 - taken from THE PRESS RELEASE, issued on January 17, 2005, by Norio Hayakawa:
Marking the 50th Anniversary of "the operating base near Groom Lake" (official name of the popularly known Area 51 base), several celebrations will be held in the month of May, 2005. The construction of this sprawling aerospace complex in Nevada, the world's most well-known but misunderstood "secret base", began in the month of May of 1955.
Needless to say, the "official" celebrations, closed to the public, will most likely be held at the base itself, including the Base Headquarters (or, officially, Building #269, according to the Security Manual of the base entitled DET 3 SP), the Administration Building (Bldg.#265), the Dining Hall (Bldg. #267) and at Building #170 which contains the officers' lounge/bar known as "Sam's Place", the gymnasium and the swimming pool.
However, there will be other "private" celebrations at diverse aerospace facilities both in Nevada and in Southern California, including the Air Force Flight Test Center at Edwards Air Force Base, whose Detachment 3 operations are allegedly tied in with the Nevada base.
Aside from these private gatherings, there will be several "public" festivities marking the Golden Anniversary of Area 51. On Saturday, May 28, 2005, the largest of these gatherings will be held adjacent to the eastern boundary of the base alongside Groom Lake Rd. and will be headed by Joerg Arnu, webmaster of Area 51-Dreamland Resort., the world's largest online source of information on Area 51.
Supporters and "aficionados" of Area 51, including military aviation enthusiasts, are expected to celebrate outside the eastern boundary of the base with a camp-out, barbecue and live music entertainment along with various speakers.
According to Arnu, May 28 was selected because it coincides with the Memorial Day weeked and thus it would be easier for the public to make it to the celebrations.
The news media is expected to cover the event and the Bureau of Land Management is also expected to participate by helping with the coordination of parking and other logistics needed to make the event a success.
For the past 16 years or so, Area 51 has been popularly and erroneously (and "conveniently", according to some theorists) associated with the false rumors of "alien technology" and conspiracies.
I, Norio Hayakawa, at one time was a proponent of such conspiracy theories but now am an ardent supporter of the importance and necessity of this vital base for our national defense. "The operating base near Groom Lake" is a real aerospace complex which had never been a top secret base. (See the bottom excellent article by aerosapce historian, Peter Merlin).
The base only became a "secret" base to those who were taken in by paranoia mongers and through misinformation, resulting from false rumors which began in the late 80s and persisted throughout the mid 90s.
Area 51 today is a vibrant aerospace R & D conglomerate test base, employing anywhere from 1800 to 2400 defense contractor employees, working in shifts on diversified projects. Some of the contractors include Raytheon, Lockheed, Boeing, Northrop Grumman, TRW, E.G. & G. and General Atomics.

WHAT IS CONSPIRATOLOGY? WHO IS A CONSPIRATOLOGIST?
Conspiratology is a comprehensive study on the origins, the role and effects of conspircy theories on society. It is a general study on why conspiracy theories or conspiratorial worldview are deeply ingrained in the psyche of a segment of human society. Therefore, a conspiratologist himself may or may not necessarily subscribe to any conspiracy theory. He simply studies and evaluates the impact of conspiracy theories in society and how people's beliefs in such theories could be manipulated or benefited by an individual or individual(s) representing an organized group, such as certain governmental agencies, partly in order to bring about certain agenda, to conceal certain agenda, or to detract attention away from certain agenda.
On occasion, an individual or individual(s) representing an organized group, such as certain governemntal agencies, may even assume and play the role of a "conspiracy theorist", posing himself as one (i.e., implanting himself as a "mole" in a segment of society) in order to gather information on what the public or a segment of the public knows about certain specific agenda.
Creation and manipulationn of certain "cover stories" play a vital role in such operations.

"COINCIDENCES" OF THE YEAR 1947
The fact that E.G.& G. (one of the main contractors at Groom Lake, since around 1955) was established in 1947 has been common knowledge all along. There had been a few articles in L.A. Times in the past on E.G.& G. and its founder.
Speaking of the year 1947, I can truly say that the year 1947 was a strange year.
It was in 1947 that CIA, successor to OSS, was established.
Also, coincidentally or not, the Department of the Air Force was officially established in 1947.
Also, coincidentally or not, Edwards Air Force Base, one of the most significant bases in the U.S., was established in 1947.
And something important was developing in the Middle East. In November of ,1947 the United Nations ordered the partition of Palestine into a Jewish State and an Arab State, preparing the way for the establishment of the State of Israel in the following year, 1948, which led to the First Middle East War. (1947 also, by the way, was the year of the discovery of the Dead Sea scrolls!!)
Also 1947 was the year when something strange was going on in the desert land of the American Southwest.......
Oh, yes, one more highly important development that took place in 1947 that I omitted:
The passing of the National Security Act in 1947 and the subsequent establishment of NSA.
Again, all of these events that took place in 1947 may have been pure coincidences......perhaps.
As far as what may have actually happened in the desert of New Mexico in 1947.....I am open to the speculation that it may have been some sort of a necessiated, man-made, "staged" event that had to be set up and which was conveniently manipulated to bring about the beginning of an "agenda" or some type of "sensitization" program for near future "scenarios".

NUMEROLOGY OF "51", AN ENTERTAINING THOUGHT
I have often entertained a thought in my mind....and it is stretching just a little too far, I know.
But I have often wondered if there are any specific significances to the number 51.
Why did the Department of Energy, for example, initially assign that number to the area surrounding Groom Lake? Are there an "occultic" symbolism in "Area 51"?
A few years ago someone gave me a diagram of the Great Pyramid of Egypt. As I looked at the diagram, something struck me when I noticed the three angles of the triangle. The bottom two angles of the pyramid were each 51 degrees 51 minutes.
The top angle of the pyramid was 76 degrees 18 minutes. (Naturally, the three angles all added up to 180 degrees, which is correct).
My imagination started running wild as I began to entertain the thought that there could be some type of "message" hidden behind these numbers.
For example, I have always heard that May 1, 1776 was the date when the so-called "Illuminati" network (often described by conspiratologists as "global elitists" network) was formed in Europe and then immediately thought to have infiltrated into the U.S.
Then I looked again at the angles of the Pyramid.
Lord, behold.....when I looked at 76, the year 1776 popped into my mind. When I saw 51, immediately May 1 came into my mind. When I saw 18, immediately three sixes (6+6+6) came into my mind. What an entertaining and interesting thought, I said to myself!
Then when I first saw an advertizement for composite materials (for Stealth technology) on Aviation Week & Space Technology magazine in October of 1988, I was again entertained by the "coincidence" that the advertizement appeared exactly on Page 51 of that magazine and it even showed a full, color portrait of a gray "alien"!!
And just recently (as we pursued the latest incident that took place on Groom Lake Road on June 6, 2001), I was shocked to realize that the Lincoln County Sheriff's phone number ended in 5151. (775-962-5151).
Of course, this is not too surprising when one considers the fact that the Air Force had in the past given an annual grant of $65,000 to Lincoln County Sheriff Department for overtime and other expenses when they were called in by Security Control at Area 51 to the dirt roads of Public Land to question curiosity seekers driving around the area....the financial records of which are available in Lincoln County Court.
So, yesterday (June 13, 2001), just for curiosity, we called the Lincoln County Sheriff Department and asked them since when did the Department have that telephone number. "It has always been this number", said Officer Anna Marie Trousdale. We then jokingly told her that we don't believe it is a coincidence that the telephone number ends in 5151. Then Officer Trousdale replied, "We don't think it is a coincidence either".
P.S. I also noticed a couple of more things. 51% is usually considered to be the majority in voting. 51 = Majority? (Operation Majority? MAJI? MAJIC? MAJ? MJ?)
The tragedy (the burning) that struck Waco occurred on the 51st day of the Waco seige!!
