ENGINEERING EXPERIENCE:
Following graduation from Tulane
University School of Engineering, I was employed with American Cyanamid Company,(now Cytec

June, 1969 to May, 1976. I was assigned to the Ammonia Plant (Kellogg Process); the Urea Plant and
the Melamine Plant. My duties primarily involved hydraulic applications in the chemical processes
(pump and piping work), I also designed and coordinated installation of several noise abatement projects.
In the summer between my Junior and Senior year, I
was employed as a draftsman at Avondale Shipyards.
PROFESSIONAL ORGANIZATIONS:
During my engineering career, I was a member of the
following professional organizations:
My early engineering career and studies at Tulane pre-date the modern PC and pocket scientific calculator. There was only one computer on campus and everyone had to learn Fortran IV; we spent late hours in the computer lab with the IBM card punch machine and had to wait a couple of days before our simple programs were run only to find an error in our card stack. During this time, the slide rule was king. The slide rule of choice for the enginnering students was the K&E Deci-Lon 10. The Dean of the School of Mechanical Engineering, Lee H. Johnston, was the author of leading manual on the use of slide rules, appropriately titled "The Slide Rule".
