Detroit's Black Artist Markets Are The Picture Of Success
This article gives a brief history and overview of the African American artist organizations in Metropolitan Detroit---how these organizations, galleries, and artists work together to maintain community. She describes the scene, discusses the artists, and lists the Metropolitan Detroit galleries that are owned and operated by African Americans and feature works by black artists.

Highland Park Storm

This is Stephen Goodfellow's personal report on the devastation caused by the recent Tornado touchdown in southeastern lower Michigan.
This was the first time in my memory that a funnel cloud entered the city of Detroit. It was for me, the embodiment of all my nightmares about tornadoes; what was metaphor to be examined in art had suddenly become too real, as I saw and heard the winds first-hand, and then the anguish of my neighbors, some of whom lost everything.
