WELCOME

Welcome to the Sanford Model Airplane Club's website. We, the members, hope that you will join us in the model aviation family.

This club has been in existence for the past 27 years in the Sanford, NC community. We have recently relocated to a new field, which has given us more room to grow into the future.

To join our club, fill out an application and submit it to any officer or member along with the appropriate dues. They in turn, will bring the application up at the next meeting for approval. In order to fly at the club field, you must be a member of the Academy of Model Aeronautics (AMA). An application for AMA can be located at their website by the link provided on the HOME page. AMA membership benefits include personal liability insurance and a subscription to Model Aviation magazine.

Meetings are held at theTrinity Lutheran Church, 525 Carthage Street, Sanford, NC on the first Monday of every month at 7:30pm.

Our field is located on private property on highway US 42, 3 miles west of highway US 1. The field is 500' X 100' with a large pit area, covered shelter, safety fence for spectators, and plenty of parking area.

Most flying is done on the weekends. Saturday flying can commence at 9am and continue until dark. Sunday flying starts at noon in order to prevent disruption of Sunday services.

For novice pilots, there are several instructors in the club who are willing to teach the basics of model flying. Names are available upon request.
